Can PPT in 'read-only mode' be edited?
Sep 02, 2024 pm 01:05 PMHow to lift the read-only restriction and edit PPT files normally? When a PPT file is opened in "read-only mode", editing functions will be limited. In order to edit normally, the problem needs to be solved according to the different "read-only" modes of PPT. This article is compiled by PHP editor Zimo. It will introduce in detail the method of lifting the "read-only" restriction, allowing you to easily edit PPT files. Read on to learn specific solutions for different modes and restore normal editing rights to PPT.
Case 1: The PPT attribute is set to "read-only"
When the PPT file is marked as "read-only" in the file attribute, the PPT file can be opened directly or normally Edit, but the original file cannot be saved after editing.
When saving, a window will pop up prompting "PPT is a read-only file and cannot be saved".
We can solve this situation in two ways.
Method 1:
After editing the PPT, save the PPT as a new file, that is, save it with a new name or save it in another location.
Method 2:
Before editing the PPT, remove the "read-only mark" of the PPT.
First select the PPT file, right-click and select [Properties], then in the pop-up window, remove the check in front of [Read-only], and then click [OK].
Case 2: PPT is set to open in "read-only mode"
When the PPT is set to open in "read-only mode" from the inside, the PPT can also be opened directly, but cannot Edit and modify PPT.
If you want to edit PPT normally, you can also use two methods to solve it.
Method 1:
After opening the PPT, click [Edit Anyway] in the yellow prompt box below the menu tab to edit and save the PPT normally.
But after closing the PPT and reopening it, it still opens in "read-only mode".
Method 2:
Before editing the PPT, remove the "read-only mode" of the PPT.
First of all, after opening the PPT, click [Edit Anyway] in the yellow prompt box below the menu tab, then click the menu tab [File], and then click [Information] - [Protect Presentation] - [Always use only Open in reading mode].
After saving, the "read-only mode" of the PPT will be released. The PPT will no longer be opened in the "read-only mode" and can be edited and saved normally.
Case 3: PPT is set to "read-only mode" with password
When PPT is set to "read-only mode" with password, after opening the file, A pop-up window prompts "Enter password to modify or open in read-only mode."
Click "Read Only" to open the PPT directly, but it cannot be edited or modified.
If you want to edit PPT normally, you can solve it through the following two methods.
Method 1:
After opening the PPT, enter the originally set password in the pop-up window, and then click [OK] to edit and save the PPT normally.
But after reopening the PPT, the window for entering the password will still pop up.
Method 2:
Remove the password protection before editing the PPT.
First, after opening the PPT, enter the originally set password in the pop-up window to open the PPT in editable mode.
Then, click the menu tab [File], and then click [Save As] to save the PPT.
After the [Save As] window pops up, click [General Options] in the [Tools] drop-down list.
After the [General Options] window pops up, you can see that there is already a password in the [Modify Permission Password] column. This is the originally set password. Select and delete the password, then click [OK] and save the PPT, with the PPT The "read-only mode" of the password is released.
After the password is removed, if you open the PPT again, the prompt window will not appear, and you can edit and modify the PPT normally.
Note:
Whether you use "Method 1" or "Method 2", you need to enter the originally set password to proceed, so be sure to remember it when setting the password or Save it.
If you accidentally forget it, you need the help of other tools.
For example, PepsiCo PPT Password Recovery Tool can directly remove the "read-only mode" without a password. Just select the [Unrestriction] module in the tool and import the PPT file.
That’s it for today’s sharing, I hope it will be helpful to everyone!

Finding the second largest value in Excel can be implemented by LARGE function. The formula is =LARGE(range,2), where range is the data area; if the maximum value appears repeatedly and all maximum values ??need to be excluded and the second maximum value is found, you can use the array formula =MAX(IF(rangeMAX(range),range)), and the old version of Excel needs to be executed by Ctrl Shift Enter; for users who are not familiar with formulas, you can also manually search by sorting the data in descending order and viewing the second cell, but this method will change the order of the original data. It is recommended to copy the data first and then operate.
