Nothing Phone (3) Is Here, Replaces LED Lights With 'Glyph Matrix' Panel

Jul 08, 2025 am 01:43 AM

Nothing has released its latest Android smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3). It's a compelling combination of hardware and software, although fans of earlier models might miss the LED accent lights.

As with the previous Nothing Phone (2), the standout feature for the Nothing Phone (3) is the striking design. However, the transparent casing and LED lights from earlier versions have been omitted. Instead, there’s a new “bold geometric aesthetic” and an updated Glyph Matrix LED panel.

The new Glyph Matrix is a circular LED panel on the back of the phone that can be controlled using the dedicated Glyph button. It performs some of the same functions as the external display on phones like the Galaxy Z Flip, such as displaying a clock, stopwatch, battery level, caller ID, and other data. There's also a low-resolution mirror for the rear cameras, along with basic games like Magic 8 Ball.

It includes a new universal search function called Essential Search, a ‘Flip to Record’ feature to transcribe and summarize meetings, and several other unique software features. The company plans to release an update based on Android 16 in the third quarter of 2025, alongside five years of major Android updates and seven years of security updates.

Beyond its distinctive software and hardware features, the Nothing Phone offers everything you'd expect from a flagship Android device. It features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, IP68 water and dust resistance, 256GB storage, 12GB RAM, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a 5,150mAh battery. The higher-end model increases storage and RAM to 512GB and 16GB respectively.

There are three rear cameras: a 50MP main lens, a 50MP periscope camera offering 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The front-facing camera is also 50MP. This should provide decent photo and video quality, especially if the performance mirrors that of the Nothing Phone (2), though it won’t rival devices like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Pricing & Availability

The Nothing Phone (3) will be available for purchase on the official website and through "select partners" starting July 4, 2025, with general availability beginning on July 15, 2025.

The base model featuring 12GB RAM and 256GB storage will cost $799 in the U.S., £799 in the UK, and €799 in Europe. The higher-end version with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage will be priced at £899, $899, and €899.
