Baseus Issues Urgent Recall of 65W 30,000mAh Power Banks Due to Fire Risk

Baseus has initiated a voluntary recall of its 65W 30,000mAh (BS-30KP365) power bank due to a significant fire hazard. This recall affects approximately 55,000 units sold in the United States. Customers with proof of purchase and proper disposal will receive a free replacement.

Affected customers should complete a recall form on the Baseus website. Alternatively, contact Baseus toll-free at 888-568-7216 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday) or email care@baseus.com. International customers with affected power banks should contact Baseus directly for instructions.

This recall is a serious matter. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports 72 instances of battery bulging, four fires, and three property damage incidents linked to the BS-30KP365. A defect in the first-generation batteries (sold since 2020) appears to cause overheating during charging.

Immediate Action Required: If you own a BS-30KP365 power bank, immediately cease use. Check the serial number on the bottom. If it ends in a number or the letter "D," it's affected by the recall. Units with serial numbers ending in "A" are not affected.

Baseus Recalls 55k Portable Batteries, Citing Fire Risk To obtain a free replacement, submit the online form, providing contact information, a photo of the serial number, and proof of purchase (a photo of the battery with your name and the date can suffice). Multiple batteries can be claimed on a single form. Instructions for those who have already disposed of their battery are available in the Baseus FAQ.

Safe Disposal is Crucial: Due to the fire risk, these batteries cannot be returned by mail. Proper disposal is essential at a household hazardous waste (HHW) facility or e-waste facility. Contact your local HHW facility or waste management authority for guidance on disposal procedures, as regulations vary.

Improper disposal of lithium-ion batteries is illegal and dangerous. Do not throw them in the trash, recycling bins, or standard e-waste drop-offs. Advocate for responsible battery disposal options in your community if necessary.
