How to Check Your Android Security Patch Level to See if You're Protected Against the Latest Vulnerabilities
Apr 27, 2025 am 09:04 AMMany potential vulnerabilities are found in the Android system every month, and Android is no exception. The problem is that many Android devices don't have timely updates – but now many devices get regular monthly security patches that can at least make up for these vulnerabilities.
If you want to protect against the latest dangerous hacks, you need to install the latest security patch level. Google releases these patches and a report on changes every month, but they can only guarantee that updates will be sent to their own Pixel devices. With all other phones, you may not receive security patches in a timely manner, but there is at least one way to check.

Check your security patch level
Different Android skins put their settings in different places, so we have divided this guide by manufacturer. If your OEM is not listed below, try the Google/native Android method as it is usually the most general.
1. Samsung
Samsung has received a lot of criticism over the years for its poor update plans, and in response, they have gradually become one of the best Android OEMs to update their phones.
To check your security patch level on your Galaxy phone, open Settings and scroll down to the bottom and select About Phone . In it, click on the software information and you will see the Android security patch level at the bottom of the list.

2. Google/Native Android
Google is responsible for all Android's base-level patches, but they are also responsible for all software updates for the Pixel series and any Android One device.
To check your security patch level on a Google-developed phone, open your Settings app first. From there, scroll down and select About the phone at the bottom. Next, tap on the Android version and your Android security update level will appear at the top of the screen.

3. OnePlus
OnePlus' highly acclaimed OxygenOS skin is close to native Android, but it still reorganizes the settings menu a little. OxygenOS is also updated quite frequently.
To check your security patch level on your OnePlus phone, open your Settings app, scroll down to the bottom, and click About Phone . Here, click on the Android version and you will see your Android security update level appear clearly at the top of the screen.
- Check OnePlus' security patch instructions for your device
4. LG
LG is notorious for updating phones, and now that they have shut down the entire smartphone business, you can be sure it will only get worse.
However, if you still want to get a security patch, open the Settings app first. There, scroll down to the bottom, click System , and select About Phone , and select Software Information on the next screen. From there, you can see the Android security patch level at the top of the screen.
