Apple releases the iOS 26 Public Beta with Liquid Glass

Although installing the iOS 26 Developer Beta on your iPhone doesn’t come with a cost from Apple, plenty of users still opt to hold off until the Public Beta becomes available. This is mainly due to the fact that Developer Betas are rolled out first and can be less stable compared to the Public Beta versions. Apple unveiled the iOS 26 Developer Beta on June 9th, and I’ve been running it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max ever since. Now, roughly six weeks after the initial developer release, Apple has officially launched the iOS 26 Public Beta.
If you're new to installing beta software on your iPhone, you’ll first need to sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program by visiting beta.apple.com. However, if you’ve participated in previous beta programs, you can skip this step and proceed directly to the instructions outlined above.
The most noticeable update with iOS 26 is the introduction of the Liquid Glass design language, giving many interface elements a translucent, fluid glass-like appearance. The Phone app also receives a redesigned UI that may take some getting used to. Notably, the Favorites section has been replaced with circular avatars representing your most frequently contacted people and locations. Instead of a Favorites tab, you now have a "Calls" tab at the bottom of the screen. When selected, your top contacts appear as avatars across the top—simply tap one to initiate a call.
Below this, you'll still find your Recent calls, along with tabs for Contacts, Keypad, and Search. By tapping the three-line menu icon in the upper-right corner, you can switch between this modernized Unified layout and the traditional "Classic" interface.
One feature notably absent from this release is an updated Siri—plans to revamp the voice assistant have reportedly been postponed.
