Farewell, XPS: Dell's New Premium 14 and Premium 16 Laptops Have Arrived
Jun 28, 2025 am 01:00 AMThe polarizing design of the old XPS laptops is still here, like the touch-sensitive function row and a touchpad that blends into the laptop frame. The connectivity options are solid, though—you get three Thunderbolt 4 ports with 40 Gbps, an audio jack, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a microSD card slot.
The Dell 14 starts at $1,650 for the base configuration, and you can order one now from Dell’s online store.
Dell 16 Premium
The Dell 16 Premium is the larger and more powerful model, with a 16.3-inch screen in all configurations. The base model has an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage, but Dell also has options with a Core Ultra 9 CPU, RTX 5060 or 5070, and 4K OLED screen.

The design is mostly the same as the Dell Premium 14 and earlier XPS laptops, though it has more depth to accommodate the more power-hungry graphics cards. The connectivity is also mostly identical, but you do get Thunderbolt 5 on the models with an RTX 5070 graphics card. That’s still a rarity in the PC industry—the latest M4 MacBook Pro supports it on some configurations, and last year’s Razer Blade 18 was the first laptop with it.
Pricing for the Dell Premium 16 starts at $2,700, and you can buy one from Dell’s website. That’s definitely expensive, but if you need a portable Windows workstation, it’s hard to go wrong here.

The problem of slow booting can be solved by the following methods: 1. Check and disable unnecessary booting programs; 2. Turn off the quick boot function; 3. Update the driver and check disk health; 4. Adjust the number of processor cores (only for advanced users). Microsoft's latest Windows updates can generally be installed safely, but they need to be judged based on the update type and usage scenario. Ordinary users can update their daily office work, video watching, etc. directly; professional software or game users should be cautious. Regular quality updates (such as the monthly "Tuesday Patch") have low risks, so it is recommended to install them in time; updates to functions (such as large version upgrades) may cause compatibility issues. It is recommended to back up data, confirm software and hardware support, and check community feedback before installing. Overall, quality updates are safe and reliable, and functional updates are suitable for optional installation after observation.
