1 Shortcuts

The Shortcuts app is one of my top picks for iPhone apps, and it's indispensable for my daily use. It acts as an automation tool, enabling you to create workflows that streamline repetitive tasks on your iPhone.

The app offers a variety of pre-built shortcuts to get you started. For instance, you can use the Play Playlist shortcut to immediately start your favorite playlist on Apple Music, or the Shorten URL shortcut to condense long web links before sharing.

If you can't find a pre-made shortcut for your specific needs, you can craft your own. I've personalized a shortcut to use the iPhone Action Button to execute multiple tasks. Additionally, I have shortcuts that completely disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on my iPhone.

You can perform basic operations like copying, moving, renaming, deleting, or sharing files.

Beyond basic functions, Files supports additional actions like compressing files, optimizing file size, and viewing file metadata within the app. With Quick Actions, you can mark up PDFs or images, create PDFs, convert images, and remove backgrounds from images. The app also features a built-in scanner for easy document scanning and saving.

5 Measure

When you need to measure something and don't have a tape measure handy, the Measure app transforms your iPhone into a convenient digital measurement tool. Using AR (Augmented Reality), it maps your surroundings and overlays digital measurement tools on real-world objects, allowing you to measure their size, height, distances, and dimensions.

To use the Measure app, calibrate your iPhone by moving it around to recognize your environment. Place the white dot on the screen at the starting point of the measurement and tap the " " button. Move your iPhone to the endpoint and tap the " " button again to mark it. The distance will appear on the screen, and you can tap the text for more details.

To use it, tap the "Level" tab at the bottom of the app and hold your iPhone against the surface. If the surface is level, the screen turns green with a 0 reading; otherwise, it shows the deviation angle.

Measure is available on all iPhone models, but it performs best on iPhone 12 Pro and later, which feature LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) for precise 3D mapping, automatic edge detection, and more accurate measurements.

6 Magnifier

Finally, there's the Magnifier app, an accessibility tool that turns your iPhone into a digital magnifier. It allows you to zoom in on small text and objects in your surroundings and capture images for closer examination.
