Microsoft Bing's AI Search rolls out to everyone to take on Google's AI mode
Oct 01, 2025 am 12:45 AMBing’s AI-powered search interface has undergone noticeable improvements since the version tested in February 2025, offering a cleaner and more intuitive layout.
The updated design features a centered top navigation bar with options including “All, Search, Images, Videos, Maps, News, Shopping, and More.” Selecting any category other than “Search” redirects users to the classic Bing SERP (Search Engine Results Page) format, complete with traditional blue hyperlinks.
Once Bing AI completes generating a response, users can access all referenced sources by clicking the “See all links” button. This action opens a right-side panel displaying the links—functionality reminiscent of ChatGPT and its search capabilities.
In practice, the new Bing AI Search operates similarly to ChatGPT’s search feature, but with a stronger emphasis on citing relevant web sources in its initial answers.
Scrolling further down reveals the conventional list of search results at the bottom of the page. Additionally, users have the option to ask follow-up questions directly. As you begin typing, the page dynamically scrolls to the input area and updates the response accordingly—while preserving the ability to revisit the original query.
However, a notable drawback is that follow-up responses from Bing AI tend to include source references less consistently than the first reply.
For instance, when I queried, “How to fix the RDP issues in Windows 11 24H2,” the answer was technically flawless. However, it appeared to directly extract content from my article on the same topic—covering both the registry workaround and Group Policy steps—without clearly attributing the source.
Is this the future of online search? I'm not entirely convinced it's a direction I welcome.
Here's a video demonstration of the experience:
Is Bing AI Search ready for everyday use? ---------------------------------------------Search accuracy has significantly improved since early 2025, and response times are faster. Overall, Bing AI feels much more polished and dependable—so much so that it now seems viable for daily use. That said, it likely won’t replace the standard Bing interface as the default anytime soon.
In an email statement to Windows Latest, Microsoft confirmed the gradual rollout of this new generative search experience but declined to provide further details.
“We’re continuing to experiment and iterate with generative search, which we began rolling out last year. At this point, we don’t have anything further to share,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
Microsoft isn’t alone in pursuing AI-driven search.
As reported by Barry Schwartz, Google has also introduced an “AI mode” for search that closely mirrors Bing’s AI experience. However, Google’s version is currently limited to users in the United States and requires a $20 monthly AI Premium subscription.
In contrast, Bing’s AI search is freely accessible across all regions. If you don’t see the AI interface, simply click More and select “Search” to switch back and access the generative experience.
