Best Weapons in Wuchang Fallen Feathers
Here's our recommendations for the best weapons in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers:
Lashing Whip
Longswords are one of the first weapons you learn to use as a player, and thankfully, one of the best weapons of the game is the Lashing Whip, which you can obtain early on. The Lashing Whip looks and breathes range, even the idle animation shows the blade as if it were breathing and extends in place. The more consecutive hits you do with the Lashing Whip, the blade extends to hit enemies farther away. Whip Dance is the blade’s Discipline Skill, which can slash enemies in an area, and is great for taking out smaller groups of enemies that attack you at once, such as in the Doomwillow Beach.
The best Discipline Skill for the Lashing Whip is the Sword Counter. Sword Counter can also be used to deflect against bosses such as Honglan and Liu Cheng’en to create an opening to launch a counterattack whilst exposing vulnerability. Not all bosses can have their attacks deflected with Sword Counter, and for other bosses, the Crescent Moon Discipline Skill allows you to create a triple slash combo that even adds Burn Buildup and lets you evade oncoming attacks.
Sword Saint allows you to receive Skyborn Might on the second sword slash, so completely whiffing the first slash, using this miss to close the gap, and using the reach of the Lashing Whip’s second slash allows you to build up Skyborn Might quickly and safely. The Lashing Whip is found near the Mercury Workshop Shrine.
Darkfrost Edge
Darkfrost Edge is the first One-Handed Sword you obtain in the game, but just because it is the starting One-Handed Sword does not mean it is useless. On the contrary, you will find more One-Handed Swords, but none come close to this in boss fights due to its exceptional Evasive Maneuver Discipline Skill. Evasive Maneuver creates an illusion and charms the enemy, so when you are attacked, you disappear and weave out of the way. This creates an opening to continue your onslaught without losing your flow or using one of your Spells.
When you are attacking an enemy with your main weapon, such as a Longsword, rather than dropping your combo, getting hit, or losing your momentum, you can activate Swift Draw to then Evasive Maneuver as soon as danger strikes. You will be able to create an onslaught of stabs to weave into using Swift Draw again to your primary weapon, create distance to heal, or get behind an enemy to increase your chances of Obliteration.
Having the Darkfrost Edge as your second weapon and using Swift Draw becomes second nature for all of the enemies that lurk to kill you or unrelenting bosses. The Spinning Kick Discipline Skill is excellent for knocking enemies off their balance, and you can do a second Spinning Kick in a row with its variant to really fumble them.
Gunpowder Spear
The Gunpowder Spear can be a weapon that feels out of place in a game like this, but being able to attack the enemy from a distance with a barrage of bullets through its Flame Strike Discipline Skill is not just satisfying - it is powerful, as well. The bullets give little recovery time to enemies, and you can easily take off chunks of health, while they groan and have no choice but to take the fiery bolts.
Unlocking the Spearveil Discipline Skill will take an immense amount of nodes to open due to it being at the end of the Spear Skill Tree, but Spearveil grants Fleetness that allows you to dodge an attack, unleash a hasty counterattack, and even additional Skyborn Might. All of these buffs and advantages on a single Discipline Skill may take some time to allocate, but it is well worth the Red Mercury Essence.
You will find the Gunpowder Spear near the Snowy Passage Shrine in Cloudspire Outskirts inside a chest atop a tall tower. You will know it is the correct tall tower, since the White-Robed Elder will be near one of the ladders you are climbing, while you reach the top.
Empyrean Greataxe
Axes can be extremely slow and sometimes not beneficial to use in Wuchang due to their slow attack animations, but what the Empyrean lacks in speed, it makes up for in its massive area of effect damage, alongside building up Obliteration opportunities just from attacking enemies head to head. Its Block Discipline Skill is helpful for slowly inching towards enemies that launch projectiles, which is helpful in the early portion of the game with few nodes unlocked.
Its bombastic Empyrean Clash Discipline Skill has Wuchang soar in the air, dodging enemy attacks, while crashing down with massive destructive power. Very few enemies can do much; they will have to wait to watch you soar in the air until you unleash an aerial shockwave to throw them off balance, when landing.
Both Colossal Smash and Rampage are excellent Discipline Skills to unlock. Colossal Smash causes Corruption Buildup in an area, alongside creating a massive explosion that adds Burn Buildup after unlocking its variants, as well. Rampage will cleave enemies, send them flying, and also heal you. For longer fights like bosses, Colossal Smash is ideal, but for non-boss enemies, Rampage is great to have another healing source while traversing through the world.
The Empyrean Greataxe is found in the Shu Sanctum before the route to Lu Hongliu. Go to the first house on the left, climb the ladder, and you will find an enemy that, once you defeat this foe, you can claim the axe on the edge of the roof.
Twin Bandits
Dual Blades are extremely strong in Wuchang due to their Clash ability. By just slashing and swinging these blades at the same time as an enemy, you can deflect incoming damage without losing balance. By unlocking nodes such as Leaf Slasher, Wave Breaker, and Deadly Shadow, you can Clash weapons against enemies through your longer combos, charged attacks, and dash attacks.
The Twin Bandits’ Discipline Skill is Block, which, when timed correctly, increases your attack rate, and you will be able to heal yourself through this offensive dance of blades. Unlocking Steel Edge will expose Vulnerability after deflecting, as well. The Blade Dance Discipline skill is highly recommended due to its variant nodes adding Paralysis Buildup and exposing Vulnerabilities.
You will find the Twin Bandits in Cloudspire Outskirts from the Rebel Camp Shrine. Pass the four scared civilians by going through the large door, and stay on the rightmost path until you find a narrow alley. There will be an enemy guarding this alley, and, once you defeat them, you can move forward to open the tiny chest with these strong dualblades inside.
Soulslikes are all about personal preference, and with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers having more than 20 weapons to play around with and even a few weapons like the Watcher’s Gaze in the Deluxe Version of the game, it can be tough to hone down what style or weapon to use, where to find them, and learn each playstyle. If you do not enjoy using a certain weapon class, even if it is the best, try to find two types of weapons you enjoy and respec as much as you would like to try all new paths and combinations with our best weapons guide.
