Fairy, Flying, and Psychic Types Are Key

Passimian is a pure Fighting-type Pokémon, which gives it clear strengths and vulnerabilities. While not a top-tier pick for PvP, it presents a 3-Star difficulty raid, meaning knowing its type matchups is essential. It is weak to Fairy-, Flying-, and Psychic-type moves, which deal an extra 60% damage. To maximize your chances, bring Pokémon that can exploit these type advantages.

On the flip side, avoid using Bug-, Dark-, and Rock-type Pokémon, as Passimian resists these types and takes less damage from them. After its Max Monday debut, Passimian will return during the regular Raid Boss rotation in April and will be available in Power Spots from April 14 to April 21.

You can bring three Pokémon into any Max Battle—either three different ones or multiples of the same species if you have them. You can tackle Dynamax Passimian solo or team up with up to three other nearby trainers. Given its difficulty, coordinating with others can make the battle significantly easier.

Legendary Flying Types: Top Choices

One major challenge in Max Battles is the restriction on which Pokémon you can use. Only Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon are allowed, including Scorbunny, which recently appeared in Max Mondays. This limits your options to species previously featured in Pokémon GO's Max Raid events or those obtained through Special Research.

Unfortunately, there are currently no pure Fairy-, Flying-, or Psychic-type Pokémon available in Dynamax or Gigantamax form. However, several strong options exist. Two iconic Generation 1 Legendaries—Moltres and Zapdos—are both part Flying-type, allowing them to use super-effective Flying moves. Moltres holds a slight advantage, as both its Fast and Charged moves can be Flying-type.

In Max Battles, your Pokémon use special Max Moves instead of their usual movesets. These are determined by the moves your Pokémon had before entering the battle.

While not as powerful as the Legendaries, Unfezant is a solid choice thanks to its Normal/Flying typing and access to strong Flying-type moves, making it effective against Dynamax Passimian.

Other viable options include Gigantamax Gengar with a Psychic move, Gigantamax Charizard with Flying-type attacks, and Dynamax Metagross using Psychic moves. Dynamax Passimian is a fresh addition to Pokémon GO, and while challenging, it can be defeated with the right team composition during Max Mondays.
