There are many different ways to enhance or improve your Fire damage and accumulation in Avowed, as well as some incredible Fire-based spells and abilities that can be used to create the ultimate Pyromancer build. The best approach to a Pyromancer build can depend on your preference for melee vs. casting. This build can incorporate some of the strongest spells and unique weapons in Avowed, such as the Forge's Friend unique great hammer or the devastating Meteor Shower spell. This build utilizes a Common Grimoire of Embers, available early in the game and upgraded for reduced cooldowns and casting cost.

There are melee and caster options available throughout each major region, with the best becoming available later in the game. Be sure to collect the Woedica's Totem pieces in Dawnshore, as you'll gain instant access to Fire-dealing Critical Hits and Ring of Fire after a Second Wind. This is your best totem choice for a Pyromancer throughout the entire game. This build gets progressively stronger as you advance and rank up your gear, culminating in a build that literally turns your enemies to ashes.

Best Attributes For A Pyromancer Build In Avowed

Might & Intellect First, Or Constitution To Avoid Glass Cannon

Pyromancers in Avowed are all about high damage and AoE, and as long as you don't mind being a glass cannon, this build will invest heavily in Might and Intellect. Might will increase your overall damage from all sources and should be the top priority, and it can be increased in various ways outside of point investment, such as Kai's companion training. Intellect is your second important stat as it controls how much Essence you have available for casting spells.

From here, you'll need to mitigate damage in major ways, so taking some Constitution is a good idea to buff your health a bit. Your armor will be doing a lot of the damage absorption in the later stages of this build, but having a decent-sized health bar never hurts. Resolve is something you want to invest in if you plan to lean more heavily into the melee aspects of this build, as you'll need stamina for the heavy-swinging Forge's Friend and Power Attacks.

Fully Ranked Meteor Shower Is As OP As It Gets

The best options for a Pyromancer are the four main Fire spells in the Wizard tree: Fan of Flames, Fireball, Ring of Fire, and Meteor Shower. You'll want to find a Grimoire of Embers early on and decide whether you want to cast from the Grimoire directly for the upcast bonus. If you'd rather have an additional weapon slot, your spells will be slightly less powerful until you fully rank them up. My preference is to use the Grimoire of Embers for the upcasted spells and save the extra ability points for Essence and Health abilities, such as Toughness.

The Forge's Friend Hammer also comes in handy for smashing Fire-resistant or immune enemies, such as Fire Blights.

Once I got the Forge's Friend hammer from Mt. Forja Summit, I decided to take Stunning Blows from the Fighter tree for the additional Stun build-up. I mostly used this hammer to whack the toughest enemy a few times on the noggin and hit them with a special attack to summon a free Greater Fire Blight, then went back to raining hellfire on any and all enemies in my path. By the time you hit level 21, you can max out the Scion of Flame ability for maximum Fire accumulation, and there won't be many enemies that can escape it.

The common Grimoire of Embers is an essential item for this build, and can be utilized from start to finish if you want to conserve ability points. This Grimoire will give you access to all the core spells you need when you have met their level requirements, and casting from the Grimoire automatically casts spells as the next rank. This means you can save yourself at least four ability points by using a Grimoire to achieve the max rank. I'd recommend the Sheathed in Summer dagger or the Last Light of Day sword for early weapon options.

Alternatively, the Cruel Command wand deals bonus Fire damage if you prefer wands with your Grimoire. Or, if you decide that Grimoires aren't for you, the Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus is an excellent Fire-damage-dealing arquebus. Ultimately, the Forge's Friend hammer is your best-in-slot weapon, as it spawns a Greater Fire Blight with a successful special attack, and the enchantment can be upgraded to deal high Fire accumulation with power attacks. You'll be able to Stun enemies in no time, complete a special attack, and summon the blight pretty easily with this hammer.

The Lava-Forged Plate Deals Fire Damage When You Get Hit

Your best choice for unique armor in Avowed is the Lava-Forged Plate found in Galawain's Tusks. This is a heavy armor with Greater Burn-Proofed and the Volcanic Outburst ability, which unleashes Fire on nearby enemies when you take melee damage. The practical effects from this are amazing, and enemies will rue the day they took a swing at you. The Magran's Force gloves are another best-in-slot glove option that deal an additional +15% Fire damage. Your boot choice can help compensate for Essence or Health, depending on your playstyle.

My favorite option is the Draconic Charm, which allows you to literally breathe Fire. The Ring of Elemental Balance will increase Fire Accumulation, while the Sigil of the Arcane will help conserve Essence cost and increase ability cast speed.

Overall, you won't have much trouble taking out huge groups of enemies or dealing high damage against individual foes with this build, with a few exceptions, such as Fire Blights and other Fire-resistant enemies. The one disadvantage is that you will be a bit squishy, but this can be mitigated with armor and equipment or ability reallocation. The Pyromancer build in Avowed is a high damage-dealing build that is very effective against most enemies, and I'd definitely recommend trying it out for yourself.
