There are plenty of things to get caught on in today's puzzle, with a lot of different words that don't necessarily feel like they go together at first glance. However, this puzzle does start to make sense with a little introspection, and I have just the things you need to spark the right thoughts to get you through to the end.

If you are looking for a fun puzzle today, the NYT's Strands puzzle is one of my favorites. I always enjoyed word searches, and having one that is also a mystery to solve is fascinating. I love that you have to deduce some things about the theme of the puzzle and that guessing other words is what gives you the hints as to what are the true answers to the words. It's a fun time, and it never takes all too long to solve.

If you are looking for some hints, you are in the right place. There are a lot of different ways to go about things in this puzzle, and you will want to look for patterns. I found the blue category to be the easiest today because it stood out the most. The "easier" categories today are a bit more complicated because it takes a little more effort to separate those two, or at least it did for me. Here are the hints that you might need today:

• One category is about words that describe an action you take likely every day
• One category is about words that signal that there is a little something extra
• One category is about four different things you can do on a particular machine
• One category is about four words that come before a different word in a phrase - that word is what kids should spend most of their time doing

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

I think this was giving me trouble because I wanted to put TO BOOT with words like TOOK IN even though they didn't have the same definition. That being said, I didn't waste a lot of guesses on it because I did have an idea that I wasn't going in the right direction. Eventually, I figured it out, and I was glad that I did, but it took me a little while to pull these two categories apart enough to finish it up.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

AS WELL	BESIDES	TO BOOT	TOO

TO BOOT was my favorite phrase in the puzzle, even if I was having trouble putting it together. The main issue I had with this one was remembering that BESIDES could mean "also" in certain circumstances, even if it usually doesn't. Or, at least, I don't think about it that way. I think of it more as something set apart, but the formal definition does include this usage. That's one of the interesting issues with Connections, as many people don't know what the formal definitions are.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

BALANCE	DEPOSIT	TRANSFER	WITHDRAWAL

I got this one first because it stood out the most. It might not be a definition-based category, but these do sound like money-related words no matter what the context is. And they all make sense as something done in relation to each other and a bank or similar. There are a lot of things you can do with money, and it's probably sad that these words stand out so much. I wish I didn't have to know this much about how to function at a bank.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

I didn't get this ahead of time, and Connections got a little spicy with this one. I was genuinely a little surprised, but it is just a word at the end of the day. It does make it hard to write about this category, but I did take a SCREENPLAY writing class one time, and it was quite fun and enjoyable. It was very different from other things I've written, and it was fun to explore a new aspect of writing.
