MindsEye's Hitman crossover mission delayed, leaving its community starving for content
Jul 29, 2025 am 12:59 AMBuild A Rocket Boy, the developer behind MindsEye, has announced a delay to its previously scheduled Hitman crossover mission, as the team continues rolling out fixes for the game.
In a recent update, the studio expressed apologies that the collaboration with IO Interactive—originally expected to arrive in July—will now be pushed to an undetermined date in the future. “We look forward to sharing this thrilling crossover at the right time and will share more details as soon as possible,” the team stated.
Despite the delay, Build A Rocket Boy has outlined plans for two upcoming updates focused on further performance enhancements. Additionally, in August, players can expect the addition of skippable cutscenes.
“It’s been a little over a month since MindsEye launched, and we truly appreciate your support and the detailed feedback you’ve provided,” the developers shared on Reddit. “Your insights are helping guide our ongoing work to improve the experience.”
Still, the lack of a clear roadmap has sparked frustration within the community, particularly on the game’s Discord server. Many users are expressing disappointment over the absence of concrete content plans.
“Great, the Hitman mission is delayed—but there’s literally nothing to bring players back until after September,” one user commented. “Why even buy the premium pass or deluxe edition if the promised content isn’t showing up?” added another, with a reply simply reading: “Cash grabbing punks.”
Another Discord member noted: “Sure, fixing the game matters—but without new content, what’s the point of fixing anything?” Some players have even recommended that Build A Rocket Boy follow Splitgate 2’s example and re-release MindsEye in an 'early access' format to reset expectations.
“As someone playing on console, there’s zero incentive to come back to this game,” another user lamented.
These concerns are mirrored on the MindsEye subreddit. “I want to see more missions added—community and dev-made ones, like promised. Plus essential fixes for free roam: multiple playable characters, drivable vehicles, dynamic time of day, etc.,” one user wrote in response to the update.
There’s also growing irritation over the vagueness of the developer’s communication. “This update literally says nothing of substance. Are you serious?” read one top-voted reply.
MindsEye launched earlier this year to a rocky reception, plagued by visual glitches such as distorted character models and persistent frame rate issues at launch.
Before release, the CEO of Build A Rocket Boy claimed that negative reviews were the result of paid campaigns, a theory not supported by the game’s publisher.
In Eurogamer’s review, critic Rick Lane described the game as “undermined by a ludicrous storyline, uneven writing, badly structured missions, and completely broken combat,” despite some early potential. The game received a one-star rating.
