If you are struggling with today's Connections puzzle, it is totally understandable due to the mix of symbols and letters that are all over this one. There are not actually any words, and many of the symbols have multiple meanings and things they can represent. Narrowing that down to be able to separate them into four categories can be even harder, and so can finding a way to type the symbols in. However, I have done it so you can thrive with the following hints.

If you want something that is a word today, you should check out today's Wordle puzzle, which comes down to putting 5 letters into a set pattern to create a word that hasn't been used by this puzzle before. The longer the Wordle puzzle goes on, the shorter and shorter the list of words that haven't been used will get, and the easier it will be to make a guess as to what the answer will be. However, before you get too excited about Wordle, it's time to finish up today's Connections.

APRIL 01 #660

If you want to get today's crazy April Fool's puzzle, you will need to think quite hard about what each letter and symbol can represent. Then narrow that all down until you have separated it out into four categories. Some of them are easier than others, but they all feel harder than they really are because they aren't words, and it's not what we're used to in today's puzzle.

• One category is about things that represent something you have to have to survive these days
• One category is about things that represent a combination
• One category is about things that are used to represent expression
• One category is about things that are used to represent whe something has been deemed passable

If you need something else to help you figure out these symbols, you can go through the category names to see what they are supposed to represent. I think one category in particular will get much easier after that. There's still one symbol that didn't click for me right away, but it makes sense now that I know a bit more.

I got this one first, and it does make the most sense out of all of the possible options. I'm kind of surprised they left the $ sign in, as I would have expected them to make it a bit more difficult. However, I'm glad they didn't because it does make it a little easier. Seeing as this category has some of the most popular currencies that you might have to use when traveling, this one should be recognizable even if you don't necessarily use these yourself every day.

N is the main symbol that threw me off on this category, as I had all three of the others together multiple times. I think because that is usually in a context like DnD, where it usually isn't capitalized. I realize that Connections just capitalizes things automatically, but that didn't occur to me at the time, and it appears deceptive when you are staring at it. An actual N would represent something on the periodic table, for instance.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

This one is kind of funny because while I spent a lot of time using these when I was younger, I now don't have to use them at all because there's a whole emoticon keyboard now. Sometimes, it takes the same amount of time, and I might type it out, but phones just autocorrect it right away now. I also think having both parentheses in the same category was tricky, because I didn't expect that to be the case. Like with N, O and P are also a little tricky due to the fact that they must be capitalized.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

"RIGHT"
R	→	?	?

I got this one second because it made the second most sense to me. I don't think about R as being a symbol for "RIGHT" all the time, but then I remembered that it is printed on things like headphones so you know which side is for which ear. The arrow also confused me, because I almost always use that one to point out a specific word or phrase and not as a directional guide, but it is just pointing to the right. I felt good about getting this one early, but I did struggle with the previous two.
