We're halfway through the beautiful summer month of July, one of two months named after long-dead Roman leaders. The sun is out, birds are chirping, and we've got another Connections puzzle to solve. As always, I'm here to guide you through this Sunday edition of Connections. This one wasn’t too challenging, but if you need some clues to get started, keep reading, fellow Connectioneers!

How To Play Connections

Connections ranks as the second most popular game from NYT Games, next to the main crossword. It's an enjoyable and free daily puzzle that really gets your brain working. You can play it right here.

The objective is to take a set of 16 words and identify connections among them by grouping them into four sets of four related words. These connections might be specific categories or phrases where words come before or after each other. The puzzles can become increasingly complex as you progress.

There’s only one correct solution for each puzzle, and you have limited attempts, so guessing randomly isn't the best strategy. Difficulty levels are color-coded, typically moving from yellow to blue/green and finally to purple as the challenge increases. Keep this in mind as you start identifying patterns and making your selections.

You choose four words you believe are connected, and if you're right, the row lights up showing how they were linked. If you're close, you'll receive a hint indicating you're just one word off. After four incorrect attempts, you lose, but if you'd rather know the answers without failing, you can either check back here or reset by clearing your browser cookies. What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Below are the complete answers for each group, listing all four words per category. Be aware that spoilers lie ahead, so proceed carefully if you don’t want to see everything yet. Here are the completed Connections answers:

• ?Yellow group – Burn, Knock, Slight, Zing
• ?Blue group – Glossy, Mag, Rag, Zine

I think the puzzle creator tried to trip people up with BURN and CHARD, though CHARD should actually be CHARRED when spelled correctly. Overall, I found this puzzle quite straightforward, especially the purple group—BUBBLY refers to champagne, CAB is short for cabernet, CHARD is chardonnay, and ZIN stands for zinfandel. The green group was a bit trickier, naturally, but once you line up all the terms side by side, it becomes clear they’re all things you find on a credit card.
