• Can You Repair Your Footwear?

Boots are some of the most important pieces of equipment in all of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In a game about traveling long distances by foot, at least until you unlock faster and more creative means of travel, taking care of your footwear has never been a more vital component. It’s the same in real life, but for Sam Porter Bridges, it’s a necessity that could mean life or death, and when they become damaged, you will need to stop and think about what to do next.

On Your Feet

Throughout your adventures in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sam will be traveling a great distance on his feet, and his boots will have some wear and tear. While it won’t show in any cosmetic form, its meter, just like any piece of cargo, will quickly go into the red and eventually the boots will break.

Traveling across the United States, or in this case the United Cities of America, is not exactly advised to go barefoot, so you’ll have to keep these sturdy boots in tip-toe shape. While resting at various rest stations will replenish ammunition and various items on your person, your boots are unfortunately exempt from this factor.

Can You Repair Your Footwear?

Unfortunately, while you can repair cargo with a spray, you’re unable to repair your boots with any items. Boots are their own unique entity that, once they expire, they expire for good and can’t be saved by any means.

Thankfully, there’s an easy solution to help fix this: craft new ones. Something you’ll need to learn very early on is that going into a rest stop or small city will allow you to craft new equipment. Simply go to the “Fabrication and Management” section of any terminal.

Once in this menu, select the “Fabricate Equipment” option, and it’ll bring up various options to craft. This includes Blood Bags, Container Repair Sprays and weapons. Go down to the “Transporter Boots” and select it. It will cost 16 Resin, which is a very low amount of material given the amount of use you will get out of this.

The obvious question is what to do with your old boots? Well, you can discard them if you want, but the best thing to do is recycle them as they will recover a good portion of the Resin required to actually craft the boots. Otherwise, there’s no real reason to hold onto them.
