Any staff member can wear any item in the Mythical Gear category. Each item can only be used by one person at a time, and each staff member can only wear one Mythical Gear item simultaneously.

Each Mythical Gear item gives a different benefit to the staff wearing it—see the full list below. However, there are some important changes to how the item behaves while it's being used:

• Mythical Gear does not generate Buzz while worn; its display case will show a note explaining that it’s in use. However, it can still contribute Knowledge to nearby Info Stands.
• Mythical Gear is immune to theft while being worn—since it's not in its case, there's nothing for thieves to take.
• Mythical Gear does not accumulate Grubbiness while worn; it remains at the same cleanliness level it had when it was first equipped.

Fantasy Stats For Non-Fantasy Characters

Some locations in the Scorched Earth expansion allow non-Fantasy characters to join expeditions. If a non-Fantasy character wears Mythical Gear during such an expedition, they will gain the Fantasy Stat bonus from the gear, even though they don't normally have that stat.

For example, if you send a Supernatural Expert wearing Nor's Hammer, they will still provide a 15 Strength bonus during the expedition, even though Strength isn't part of their normal abilities. This makes Mythical Gear even more valuable when trying to complete your collection of fantasy creatures like ghost goblins and magical fish!
