The Anomaly DLC is compatible with RimWorld: Odyssey, but the Monolith does not travel along with your ship. If you depart from the tile without anchoring it first, all progress related to the anomaly will be erased. To retain the Monolith, you must construct a grav anchor before taking off.
After reaching a certain point in the game, you can re-summon the Monolith through Strange Signal events.
Here’s how to combine both DLCs in one playthrough.
The Monolith Remains on the Tile
The Monolith appears as part of a world event and cannot be moved like regular objects—it remains fixed to the map where it spawns. Without a grav anchor, flying away with your gravship deletes the entire map, including the Monolith and any progress made.
By anchoring the map, you preserve everything. You can come back anytime and continue your work.
Preserving Your Progress
Once the Monolith is built and you begin gathering anomaly entities, your progress is stored in the global codex. As long as the tile is anchored, leaving and returning won’t erase your progress on the Monolith.
At a later stage, during a Strange Signal event, you can summon a new Monolith on a different tile while keeping your research and upgrades intact. This allows you to advance the storyline without being stuck on one location permanently.
Is It Possible to Use Anomaly on an Asteroid?
There's no official statement confirming whether the Monolith can spawn directly on an asteroid. However, once you unlock the Strange Signal, you might be able to summon it there. If the asteroid supports quests and map generation, then it should be possible.
Until then, stick to planets for setting up your anomaly base.
Tips for Combining Odyssey and Anomaly
- Anchor the map before starting the anomaly storyline
- Avoid interacting with the Monolith until you're fully prepared
- Wait until unlocking Strange Signal before relocating
- Use shuttles for short-distance travel instead of launching early
- Maintain a dedicated area for research and containment
Both DLCs can be used together, but Anomaly functions best when you settle down for some time.
Final Note
RimWorld Odyssey and Anomaly can coexist, but not automatically. You need to plan accordingly. The Monolith doesn't magically board your ship or follow you around.
Use anchors, wait for the correct event, and ensure your flying lab doesn't wipe itself off the map unintentionally.
FAQ
Q: Can the Monolith move with your gravship?
No, it stays rooted to the original tile where it appeared.
Q: What happens if I leave without anchoring?
Leaving without anchoring results in deletion of the Monolith and all anomaly progress.
Q: Can I keep progressing through Anomaly after leaving the tile?
Yes, provided you've placed a grav anchor or use the Strange Signal event afterward.
Q: Will the Monolith appear on an asteroid?
Not officially confirmed, but Strange Signal may allow it once unlocked.
Q: Do Anomaly and Odyssey work well together?
They can—but anchoring and timing of quests must be handled carefully.
