Lies of P: Overture introduces a wide array of quests, items, and features. Among its more intriguing additions are emotes that suggest P is beginning to grasp a sense of playfulness and humor (or at least simulate it). One such example is the Heart emote, where P mimics forming a large heart with his arms after learning from a small puppet doll.

This guide will walk you through how to obtain this emote and where you can use it for special interactions.

It Starts At the Carnival

After defeating Markionna and leaving the Krat Zoo section of Overture, you'll soon reach a carnival area. Near the first Stargazer in this location, sitting on some crates, you’ll find a delicate doll-like puppet named Rosaura. She expresses a desire to travel to the Rose Estate but cannot because she has lost her shoes. To eventually unlock the Heart emote, your first task is to help her locate them.

Her footwear is hidden inside a chest further into the carnival, though the reason for this isn't clearly explained. To reach the chest, you must access the carousel by dropping through an opening on its roof. This can be done by boarding a gondola on the Ferris wheel and jumping onto a platform as it rises, which leads directly to the carousel's rooftop. Most players will likely come across the shoes naturally while following the DLC’s main storyline, since accessing that rooftop is also necessary to find the Zoo Tram Station Key, which is crucial for progression.

Returning the shoes to Rosaura earns her gratitude, minor rewards, and advances her questline. You won’t see her again until later, during the mining portion of the DLC.

A Second Meeting

As you continue through the DLC, you’ll encounter Rosaura once more near the Pistris Harbor Stargazer, located toward the end of the abandoned mine segment. She appears to have exhausted her energy reserves and now needs Ergo to keep going. Talking to her presents the option to "Give Ergo," allowing you to choose from various types of Ergo Chunks stored in your inventory.

Nearly all options seem to yield similar results—though the dialogue may vary slightly—revitalizing Rosaura and rewarding you with "Rosaura's Treasure: Ruins Secret Gathering Invitation" and "Rosaura's Treasure: Second Piece of a Drawing." More importantly, she also grants you the Heart emote.

During testing, offering her an Ergo Crystal of the Eternal (the strongest standard Ergo type) resulted in P gaining Humanity, similar to the effect of lying or acting less like a puppet. Some sources indicate that weaker Ergo crystals may not provide this boost, although it's helpful but not essential for maximizing your Humanity before the game ends.

Unique Interactions

For the most part, the Heart emote serves as a quirky and amusing reward for aiding Rosaura. While it doesn’t offer much practical value during P’s journey, there are a few specific locations where it triggers unique reactions.

The most beneficial interaction occurs when using the Heart emote in front of the Broken Puppet found in the Barren Swamp. Although none of the new emotes are required to complete the Broken Puppet’s original quest (a base game feature), each one allows you to receive an item. Using the Heart emote here gives you a Miraculous Recovery Ampoule—a powerful consumable that might already be familiar to you by this point, though they remain rare and expensive if purchased from DLC vendors.

Several NPCs also respond to the Heart emote, albeit without giving tangible rewards. Rosaura reacts joyfully with laughter and brief dialogue, at least when you're in the area where she originally gave you the emote. Eugénie responds with an awkward wave, while Sophia offers a gentle bow—but only if you perform the emote in front of her before the Hotel Krat is attacked in the main story, making this a possible NG exclusive interaction.
