How to get Zorua in Pokémon Go

Zorua initially appeared in New Zealand during the Spotlight Hour on Tuesday, 25th October. However, this release had a bug and Zorua spawns were turned off globally soon after. It was later officially released as part of the 2022 Halloween event.

Zorua will appear exactly like your buddy Pokémon — even if that buddy is shiny. To catch Zorua, you must capture what looks like your buddy Pokémon, and then it will reveal itself to be a Zorua, much like Ditto does.

At the moment, it's unclear whether having your buddy active on the map is necessary for Zorua to spawn or affects how often it appears. Because of this uncertainty, we strongly suggest making sure your buddy is visible on the map while you're searching for Zorua.
