Later in the game, this information becomes meaningful when you encounter the Doctor in The Motherhood during Main Order 26. The Motherhood is a terminal that prompts you for a code the first time you attempt to access it. That code is the birthday you entered at the beginning.

But there's more in store. If you're aboard the Magellan or wake up inside it on your birthday, a unique cutscene will play where every crew member gathers to wish you a happy birthday.
