Chip Ganassi Racing Announces OpenAI As Mid-Ohio IndyCar Sponsor
Jul 03, 2025 am 11:17 AMOpenAI, one of the world’s most prominent artificial intelligence organizations, will serve as the primary partner on the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) Honda driven by three-time NTT IndyCar Series champion and 2025 Indianapolis 500 winner Alex Palou at Mid-Ohio.
Having joined Palou and CGR in victory lane after six wins in the first nine races of 2025, OpenAI will now appear as the primary sponsor for the first time. The No. 10 Honda will showcase a matte black design.
"Collaborating with OpenAI has transformed our organization,” said team owner Chip Ganassi. “From gaining strategic insights in the office to enhancing performance on the track, their technology enables us to think faster, act smarter, and remain leaders in innovation.”
Originally launched in February as a strategic research initiative, the collaboration has grown into a strong platform for marketing and innovation. During the 2025 season, the partnership between OpenAI and Chip Ganassi Racing has expanded, delivering practical applications both on the racetrack and within the team's operations, improving efficiency, automation, and overall performance.
“This partnership is rooted in curiosity—how human talent and AI can drive each other to new heights,” said Sarah Russell, Head of Integrated Marketing, Open AI. “We’re excited to be featured at Mid-Ohio with Chip Ganassi Racing as we continue exploring how AI can enhance human expertise and elevate performance.”
Palou is already making history this season. With six wins in the first nine races of 2025, he and the No. 10 team are tied for the most wins in a season since open wheel racing reunited in 2008 (Scott Dixon, 2008; Will Power, 2011), and they are just four wins away from matching the all-time record of 10 (A.J. Foyt, 1964; Al Unser, 1970). In 90 career races, Palou has secured 17 victories and 50 top-five finishes.
CGR shares the record for the most team wins in IndyCar history at Mid-Ohio with 12. Palou has consistently finished on the podium in every race he has contested with CGR at this track, including a win in 2023 and a pole position plus a second-place finish in 2024.
Television coverage for the race starts at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, July 6, and will be broadcast live on FOX.
