Death Stranding 2 fast travel allows you to move Sam across the map significantly faster than relying on foot or vehicle travel.
Before that, though, you must unlock fast travel in Death Stranding 2. You’ll actually have the chance to do this twice, as there are two types of fast travel available, both helping you avoid lengthy backtracking.

How to unlock fast travel in Death Stranding 2
There are two kinds of fast travel in Death Stranding 2 - the Magellan and the transponder. At the beginning of the game (aside from using Sam's feet), neither is accessible, so you'll need to unlock both.
The Magellan is a helpful vessel that enables you to reach various locations across and between the continents Sam explores. To gain access to the Magellan, you must defeat the Order 12 boss before completing Order 12 in Episode 3. Once that’s done, you can bring West Fort Knot online, which also unlocks the Magellan.
We won’t give away much about the transponder (to keep the story surprises intact), but you’ll obtain it later in Death Stranding 2. It provides a quicker, more immediate form of fast travel compared to the Magellan.
