How To Restore The Old Context Menu On Your Windows 11 PC - MiniTool

This guide shows you how to restore the classic context menu in Windows 11. Many users prefer the familiar Windows 10 context menu to the new, simplified version in Windows 11. This tutorial provides two methods to achieve this.
Method 1: Using the Registry Editor
This method involves directly modifying the Windows Registry. Proceed with caution, as incorrect registry edits can damage your system. It's strongly recommended to back up your registry before proceeding.

Back up your Registry: Open Registry Editor (regedit), click File > Export, choose a location, name the backup file, and save it.

Edit the Registry: Navigate to
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID. Create a new key named{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}. Inside this key, create another key namedInprocServer32. Leave the default value data for both keys blank. -
Restart: Restart Windows Explorer (or your computer) for the changes to take effect. The classic context menu should now be restored. To revert, simply delete the keys you created.
Method 2: Using a .reg File
This method uses a registry file to automate the process.
- Create a .reg file: Create a new text file. Copy and paste the following code into it:

Reversion: To revert, delete the
.regfile. Note that this does not automatically undo the registry changes.
Important Note: Before making any changes to your registry, always back up your system or create a system restore point. This will allow you to easily revert any unintended consequences. If you are uncomfortable editing the registry, the second method using the .reg file is the safer option.
