Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) isn’t finished just yet, as they’ve announced an additional update to the game is on the horizon. During CDPR’s REDstreams event on June 5, the team unveiled a forthcoming patch set to arrive later this month.

As part of the celebration marking Cyberpunk 2077’s availability on the Switch 2, CDPR confirmed that Patch 2.3 will launch on June 26, with further specifics to be disclosed during another livestream prior to its rollout.

CDPR Global Community Director Marcin Momot echoed this news via Twitter (X) on June 5, encouraging followers to keep an eye out for more details regarding the next Cyberpunk 2077 update. CDPR Associate Game Director Pawel Sasko reposted the message on June 6, noting that they’ve been secretly working on this for some time and would provide further updates once ready.

Could This Be the Final Patch?

CDPR has often labeled previous updates as “final,” only to release subsequent patches, but this upcoming update might genuinely be its last as the company shifts focus toward Cyberpunk 2. During the latest REDstreams session, the developers humorously admitted that their most recent “final” update wasn’t actually the end.

Initially, CDPR claimed Patch 2.1 was the “l(fā)ast big update,” aligning with the Ultimate Edition release in December 2023. Later, in December 2024, Patch 2.2, developed in partnership with Virtuos, introduced enhanced customization features. Many assumed this would be the definitive update, considering the game launched in December 2020.

This pattern mirrors what happened with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, where CDPR initially declared Patch 4.0, the next-gen update in December 2022, as the final patch. However, Patch 4.04 arrived in July 2023, proving otherwise.

Most recently, CDPR announced that The Witcher 3 will receive its true final update later this year to mark its 10th anniversary. On May 30, CDPR tweeted (X) that this patch will introduce cross-platform mod support, enabling players to share mods within a unified ecosystem.

With Cyberpunk 2 in pre-production and The Witcher 4’s latest tech demo, it’s clear that CDPR’s final patches for these earlier titles will indeed be their last. For now, Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts can savor the experience on Nintendo’s latest handheld console.
