One of the primary motivations pushing you to steadily advance through the storyline of Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma is the phased introduction of romanceable and non-romanceable characters. Nevertheless, you aren't obligated to follow this path if you intend to pursue one of the starting characters.
Iroha is among those characters, and she becomes available quite early in the game. Besides being single, Iroha serves several crucial roles that will significantly impact your gameplay. However, if you wish to wed her, you must boost your relationship with her as swiftly as possible.
Iroha Overview And Common Locations
Residence | Spring Village |
---|---|
Birthday | Spring 30th |
Prior to beginning to enhance your bond and romance with a specific character, you must first unlock them via the main narrative. Nonetheless, this isn't an issue with Iroha since she's the very first romanceable character you encounter upon entering Spring Village and learning about its challenges.
Following a few dialogues, Iroha is immediately added to your profile section. However, you may not be able to spend time with her until you stabilize the village since the game only introduces you to the bond mechanic after that. Iroha owns Iroha's Restaurant, located on the street connecting Spring God Shrine and the exit leading out of Spring Village.
Best Gifts And Hangouts For Iroha
While playing Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma, almost every interaction you have with a character can raise your bond value. This includes daily conversations with them, using your Plum Branch/Iroha's Fan nearby, engaging them in combat, fulfilling their requests, and completing their bond quests.
However, the action that provides the highest bond value is presenting an item to the character as a gift or spending time with them daily. Giving a neutral item to the character yields an eight bond value, which increases to 16 and 29 for liked and loved gifts. There are also some gifts that offer a 13 value, but they aren't particularly favored by Iroha.
Best Iroha Gifts
Type | Name | How To Get |
---|---|---|
Loved | Biggest Fan Sandwich | To create this item, you must first interact with numerous Frog Statues as **you can obtain the Cutlet Sandwich recipe from the rewards when you submit that quest to the kid**. Once you have the recipe, you need Suzu to bond six. |
Matcha Glow Ice | This one is similar to the one above as you need to **create this unique recipe with Suzu while making Matcha Ice Cream**. It requires one milk, one sugar, and one matcha to cook. You can purchase the last item from Iroha herself. | |
Wartime Dango | Wartime Dango is another unique recipe that **you can make while cooking normal Dango with Sakaki**. You can get Dango's recipe on the same island as the Sage of Sweets side quest. It only requires Rice Flour to make. | |
Tri-Color Dango | This is likely the best item you can gift Iroha for the highest bond value during the early game, but **the only way to get it that early is by purchasing it from Iroha herself**. However, you can eventually get its recipe from the Sage of Sweets quest. | |
Liked | Matcha Ice Cream | You can obtain the recipe for this at the same time as Cutlet Sandwich from the Frog Statue quest, and it takes the same ingredients as Matcha Glow Ice above. **However, since this is only liked by Iroha**, it'll provide you significantly less bond. |
Dango | As mentioned above, you can simply get this recipe and make it using one Rice Flour. | |
Green Dango | This is another recipe you get from the Frog Statue quest quite early. Once acquired, **you can make it using Rice Flour and Matcha**. | |
Sugar | You can randomly acquire this item while exploring but you can also have a regular supply by creating a Sugar Refinery in your development zones. | |
Flour | All three of these items can randomly be obtained while exploring, with the first two being rare drops. However, **you can easily buy them from Iroha herself when she's at the restaurant** and then present them back to her.
You also have a chance of receiving these items as a return gift from Iroha. | |

Best Iroha Hangouts
When you select the "Let's hang out" option after speaking to Iroha, which you can only do once a day, you'll have three options aside from the gift. Since she doesn't have a simple loved gift during the early game, you can attempt these separate hangouts to gain a high bond value with her. Of course, she enjoys some of them more than the others.
Iroha loves the "Grab a bite to eat at Iroha's Restaurant" and "Pay a visit to a shrine" hangouts and she likes "Gossip about romance" and "Go shopping" ones. Some of these are only available once you've upgraded your Social Activities a bit, and if you see any of them appear, you can easily opt for them.
How Iroha Functions In Combat
As one of the first few characters to be unlocked in Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma, you'll likely have a high bond level on Iroha even without trying. Even if you don't plan on romancing her, another form of upgrade you receive with bond level is the battle capabilities of the villager since you can take them out to explore with you.
Iroha has the Defender role during combat with abilities that can not only taunt the enemies, but also reduce their ATK while increasing your DEF. Here's what she unlocks with each bond level:
Bond Level | Effect Unlocked |
---|---|
1 | **Gives her the taunt skill** that can draw the enemy's aggro away from you. |
2 | Unlocks the Blade Breaker skill, which deals damage to the enemy while lowering their ATK. |
3 | Unlocks the Maid Headband recipe that can be **used as an accessory or just as a normal clothing** design. |
4 | Unlocks the defensive stance skill, which boosts her DEF and M.DEF. |
5 | Gives you the Battle Broom recipe that can **be used as a short sword**. |
6 | Unlocks the Oni Thrasher skill, which deals **heavy damage to Oni enemies**. |
7 | Unlocks the Snack Break Dango skill, which allows her to increase her own HP. |
8 | Unlocks the Resilience ability. |
9 | Unlocks the Dauntless ability. |
10 | Increases Iroha's DEF. |
Iroha Marriage Guide
Once you've reached bond ten with Iroha and completed all her bond quests until level nine including the three dates you get after committing to her, you can begin the process of marrying her. As you acquire the Plum branch and Divine Spirits, you can invite her to the Fateweaver Shrine and you'll get married the next time you sleep.
You can only propose to her at the Fateweaver Shrine on a day when you're not dating another character. After marriage, Iroha will ask you to have a child every five days??????. Once you agree, you can choose the gender and personality traits of your child, after which you'll receive them when another ten days pass.
