How to get Nickit in Pokémon Go

Nickit made its first appearance in Pokémon Go during March 2025 as part of the Deep Depths event.

Here's a rundown of how to catch Nickit during Deep Depths in Pokémon Go:

• In the wild
• Event-exclusive research task - Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts
• Event-exclusive 7km eggs
• Pay-to-play Timed Research quest

In my opinion, the easiest way to catch Nikit is by finding it in the wild. As a new Pokémon, it will be prioritised in your Pokémon radar (found in the bottom right-hand corner) which will help you quickly narrow down its location. There should also be a good number of them spawning frequently in the wild, so, hopefully, you'll be able to catch enough to evolve one into Thievul before Deep Depths ends. You might also want to use an Incense to increase the number of Pokémon spawning more frequently in the wild.

If you don't fancy going on a Pokémon hunt though or would rather use a different method, your next best bet is the event-exclusive research task. The problems here, however, is that Nickit only has one research task, there's no guarantee a PokéStop will give you said tasks and the tasks given out by PokéStops change on a daily basis. Rolled together, this means you might have a hard time finding the correct research task! For this reason, you may want to consider joining a local Pokémon Go group as someone might have already found the PokéStop you seek.

On the whole, I wouldn't recommend trying to hatch a Nickit from one of the event-exclusive 7km eggs unless you need another Pokémon from that egg pool. Yes, there's a hatch distance reduction bonus running throughout Deep Depths. Yes, you will earn more candy from hatching a Nickit. Yet, this never changes the fact you're beholden to the whims of the egg odds. This means you may find yourself never hatching a Nickit at all and have instead wasted the time you could have spent hatching other eggs.

I also don't recommend purchasing the pay-to-play Timed Research quest (for reasons I hope are clear) unless you really fancy dropping some money on Pokémon Go. You'll most likely encounter a good number of Nickits in the wild and, while it's cheap, your money is better spent elsewhere.

I do highly recommend catching at least one Nickit before the Deep Depths event finishes. This is because, at the time of writing, the spawn rate for Nickit upon the event's end is unclear. Recently, we've seen a trend of new Pokémon being difficult to find once their debut event closes so it's best to fill in those Pokédex entries now so you're not rushing to catch a Nickit in the future.

The Might and Mastery Season and its seasonal quest has arrived. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

How to evolve Nickit into Thievul in Pokémon Go

You need 50 Nickit Candy to evolve Nickit into Thievul in Pokémon Go.

When it comes to collecting Nickit Candy, it's a good idea to use Pinap Berries whenever you have the chance as this will double the amount of candy you'll earn when catching Nickit. It's also a good idea to hatch any of the event-exclusive 7km eggs you collect during Deep Depths as, if one hatches a Nickit, you'll receive a good amount of candy. If you'd prefer to avoid these eggs though, then you can have a Nickit as your buddy and passively earn its candy while exploring Pokémon Go. Finally, you may want to use Rare Candy but it's probably best to save it for rarer Pokémon…
