The iPhone 15 Pro and later models replaced the familiar mute switch with a versatile Action button. This button, requiring a press-and-hold to activate (preventing accidental presses), offers far more functionality than its predecessor. Customize its actions directly within your iPhone's Settings app.
Built-in Action Button Options:
Navigate to Settings > Action button to select from these pre-programmed functions:
- Silent Mode: Toggles mute on/off.
- Focus: Activates a chosen Focus mode (or displays a menu of options).

For example, create a shortcut to simply "Show Control Center," eliminating the need for the swipe gesture. More advanced users can create context-aware shortcuts; for example, launching the flashlight in portrait mode and activating Do Not Disturb in landscape mode.
