Initiating Yaya's Recruitment:
Yaya's recruitment begins during the Wada Koretake assassination quest. After aiding mercenaries in a temple, Yaya is introduced. She reappears during Koretake's stronghold assassination. After defeating Koretake, a crucial choice arises: save a soldier or let Mitsumune kill him. Choosing "Killing them isn't justice" pleases Yaya and unlocks her recruitment quest.
The Stray Dogs Quest:
This quest, marked on your map, takes you to western Osaka to aid Yaya. Defeat attacking enemies. Yaya then requests help resolving a monk issue. Choosing "We forgive him" is key.
Next, retrieve Yaya's kanzashi from Tetsuo in the Takatsuki Church (northeast of Amagasaki Castle). When Yaya wants to harm Tetsuo, select "You need to forgive each other." This prompts Yaya to join your cause.
Yaya's Abilities:
Once recruited, Yaya's ability is accessible via the tools menu. Targeting an enemy activates her skill (when off cooldown). She joins the fight, initiating with a pushback attack (though this can be glitchy in tight spaces). She fights until the threat is neutralized, then departs.
Upgrade Yaya at your hideout's Dojo. The first upgrade adds a knockdown attack, enabling ground attacks. The second upgrade (requiring Dojo upgrades) adds a powerful flying kick.
