Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 11/10 adds 'Mobile Upload” function to facilitate cross-device file transfer
Feb 22, 2024 am 08:10 AMMicrosoft has added a new feature to the Edge browser on Windows 11/10 in the latest stable version, namely “Mobile Upload”. Users can now upload files directly from their phones through the Edge browser, and the feature works on almost all websites without file format restrictions. The introduction of this feature provides users with a more convenient upload method, making it more efficient to manage and share files when using the Edge browser.
How to use the "Mobile Upload" function:
- Open the Edge browser, click the "Upload" option of any website, and then select "Upload from mobile" in the file picker.
- Use your phone camera to scan the QR code.
- Click "Confirm" to pair the device in the Edge browser.
- Click the "Upload File" option.
- Browse on your phone and select the file you want to upload.
- The file will be uploaded to the website.
However, during testing by IT House, we found that a server error occurred when pairing mobile phones.
When using this feature, make sure your computer and mobile phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. After scanning the QR code, the opened web page can be used to manage upload operations.
It should be noted that when using a third-party browser, only 10 files can be uploaded at a time. To avoid this limitation, you can choose to install the Edge browser or disconnect and re-pair your device. In addition, no login is required to use the "Mobile Upload" function.
All uploaded files will be automatically saved in a folder named "UploadFromMobile" in the download folder of your computer. This means that even after the upload is complete, you will have an extra backup on the storage disk. When uploading a file format that is not supported by the website, the system will issue a warning to remind you that the file may not be uploaded successfully.
Edge browser recently introduced the “Drop” feature as a cloud storage solution that allows users to conveniently share files and information. With Drop, users can access and view or download their files on any synced device.
