Among the rare humanoid necromancers in the Metaphor: ReFantazio world, Zorba stands as one of the earliest major foes you’ll encounter. Serving as the primary boss within the Regalith Grand Cathedral, he’s far from an easy opponent. True to his necromantic nature, he wields dark powers over the dead, bringing forth undead minions to aid him in battle.

Zorba Moveset

• Corpse Puppetry: Summons a Corpsethrall to join the battlefield and fight alongside Zorba.
• Corpse Attack: The summoned Corpsethrall performs standard melee strikes against your party.
• Madness Curse: Zorba enrages one of his Corpsethralls, doubling its attack damage output.
• Bondage Curse: A debilitating move that inflicts paralysis on a target, halting their actions without dealing direct damage.

Boss Fight

As this takes place in the first major dungeon of Metaphor, your available Archetypes are limited. You’ll mostly rely on the default roles assigned to each character, which are sufficient for this encounter. However, bringing a Healer is strongly recommended. Avoid relying on Mages, since Zorba resists most elemental magic—except for Light and Darkness-based abilities. Melee-focused characters are your best bet, so sticking with the starting Archetypes is a solid strategy. For added safety, consider switching the Protagonist to a Healer role.

The Corpsethralls may seem threatening, but they actually limit Zorba’s turn efficiency by consuming one of his actions each round. As the battle progresses, Zorba can accumulate up to four actions per turn, including both initiating and ending the turn sequence. Despite this, it's not overly dangerous, as Zorba himself lacks strong offensive capabilities.

His main strength—his reliance on minions—is also his biggest vulnerability. The real threat comes when he uses Madness Curse to boost a Corpsethrall’s damage. To counter this, use Knight’s Proclamation frequently to protect your team.

Your primary objective should be eliminating Zorba quickly. While you can choose to destroy the Corpsethralls, it's more efficient to have Strohl focus his multi-hit slash attacks on Zorba directly, let the Protagonist handle healing and buffs, and position Hulkenberg as the frontline tank. With this setup, the battle should conclude in under five turns.
