What Is the Minecraft Clone Command?

The Minecraft /clone command is a type of instruction in the Minecraft video game used for copying or moving a block region. It is available in many versions of Minecraft, such as the Windows 10/11 edition, the Java edition on PC or Mac, the PS4 edition, the Xbox One edition, the Nintendo Switch edition, the education edition, and the pocket edition (PE). However, on the PS3 and Nintendo Wii U editions, the Minecraft /clone command is not supported.

Note: The Windows 10/11 edition, PS4 edition, Xbox One edition, Nintendo Switch edition, and the pocket edition of the /clone command in Minecraft are now referred to as the Bedrock Edition.

How to Use the Clone Command in Minecraft?

There are generally two methods to utilize the Minecraft clone command.

Method 1. Use the Minecraft Clone Command in the Chat Window

This is the simplest way to execute a command in Minecraft. Simply press the T key to open the chat window in Windows 10 and communicate with the system regarding what you wish to do.

Method 2. Manually Enter the Command

First, determine the coordinates of the clone source and destination. Then, input the coordinates into the clone command based on one of the clone syntaxes. You can preview what you have written in the bottom left corner. Finally, press the Enter key to execute the cloning process.

Regardless of which method you choose to clone your items, once completed, a message stating “xx blocks cloned” will appear in the lower left corner.

Note: It is advisable to position your character near both the source and destination positions because Minecraft can only load part of the world at a time. If one of the two locations is too far to be loaded, the Minecraft clone command will fail with an error message reading “Cannot access blocks outside of the world”.
