College Football 26 Broadcast and Music Updates Announced
Jul 31, 2025 am 01:10 AMThe next deep dive for College Football 26 has entered the chat and quickly after the previous one. This deep dive focuses on the presentation in College Football 26, which promises to not only fill in the gaps on traditions and other things that were missing last year, but also introduce tons of new elements. From new intros and lighting changes to broadcast overlays and a more pleasant font, there are a ton of aspects being added to the presentation elements for College Football 26. Updated music, commentary, broadcast overlays and much more will be coming to the game. There's also no video for this deep dive.
Dynamic Time of Day Changes
This is a massive update to the game and goes beyond just the daylight changing throughout the game. Everyone who is a fan of their team knows just how much emotion is tied to that home field. Part of that feeling comes from specific daylight that's used to help craft the atmosphere, albeit naturally. You're at a game entering the fourth quarter in Death Valley in Clemson and the sun hits that right spot, the feeling changes and can actually shift the momentum in its own right.
There are also new mascots joining the game, including the Pop-Tart from its bowl game.
Here's the thing, 6 PM at Death Valley in Clemson is not going to feel the same as 6 PM in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Everyone know what their school's games look like and feel like based on the time of day in that time of year. Regional Time of Day is being added to College Football 26 and this will further provide a new feeling for every game further eliminating any repetitiveness or stagnation. November games will get darker, as well, as Seasonal Time of Day is being added. The improved lighting engine will make every game feel more distinct with this dynamic time of day update.
Finishing Unfinished Business
The dev team for College Football 26 has summoned a new art director from the Madden team. The player opt-in process had a small window for the first game. This means for 12,000 players, they're not getting those scans, and many may have thought that maybe the player model and face direction is just how things had to be due to licensing. In reality, the team just didn't have enough time to get player scans, but they do now.
A main focus for this year's game is player authenticity. Every player head will see a big leap visually thanks to the newly-upgraded machine learning pipeline. The team has also added the highly requested "Lean" body type. When you look at players like Travis Hunter, there really wasn't a body type that fit that mold, and the same can be said for Ryan Williams. These players don't have an ounce of fat on their body, meaning they are lean and not bulky. This body type captures the athleticism and youthfulness of the player with this assigned type. This now brings the total body type in the game to five.
Other Visual Changes and Improvements
- 350 secondary player QOL improvements
- 1700 new heads for fans - same fidelity as in-game players
- 175 coach heads
- 200 new character
- Machine Learning for jersey deformation and wrinkle animations
- Devs will keep uniforms updated consistently throughout the season
- New hair strand simulation
- Annoying superfan from last year has been banned from all stadiums in the country
Big Game Dramatic Atmospheres
The devs heard the complaints of commentary and have devoted 200 additional hours in the booth with 15,000 new lines to build upon the emotion the sport craves. In our time at the hands-on demo, Rece Davis just starts completely losing his mind in some scenarios to the point where it's comical. They took out low energy lines from last year to help alleviate any of those issues. The entire squad from last year returns with the big game and the smaller game teams. More content was added around rivalry games, which gets a big focus with the overall presentation in this year's game.
There's banter between coaches and players from last year as they tack onto the stories carrying over to this year. For Dynasty, there will be commentary based on the current season along with previous post-season results. The game will also see more music across stadiums, and not just licensed music (yes, Enter Sandman from Metallica is here for Virginia Tech). Others being added include Mr. Brightside, Seven Nation Army, Shipping up to Boston and more.
College Football 26 will also include more band music and frankly just more band. Michigan's temptation and intimidation and Auburn playing the remix theme song are included. It also took to the studio in Nashville and had a band record music from Jelly Roll, Post Malone, The Weekend and Swag Surf into the game. There will be 200 new chants in the game including Mr. Brightside. Halftime and pre-game will feature new band formations and you can expect new rivalry trophy and celebrations.
Pre-game celebrations during rivalry games will feature a light show using drones if the stadium features it. Road to Glory will also have its own third-person perspective where you run out before a game. Quick Runouts will be an option as it streamlines the experience without losing that college football feel. This is on by default for Road to CFP and can be turned on for unranked CPU opponents at home (that early November Jefferson Pilot Sports game). Players can also expect light shows within the stadium that are typically seen at pre-game and in the fourth quarter.
Runouts won't all be the same this year. The dev team have introduced a tiered system to dictate how the game adapts to the context of each individual game. Whether its primetime, a rivalry or a quick matchup, the runout system will be fixated on that specific matchup. Epic Runouts aim to create the best primetime experience, which includes the light shows and the phone outs. More traditions have been added for Standard Run outs like motorcycles for Ohio and Utah, the Cockaboose for South Carolina and the Sooner Schooner for Oklahoma.
The new scorebug is much more cleaner and legible. The devs wanted to make all the game more legible in terms of the fonts including what is seen on pre-play and in the menus. It was tight and strict last year with some things being hard to read. At this point, the team continues to focus on perfecting its own presentation element in the game as you won't see ESPN or Fox or CBS. New broadcast banners bring the game closer to a television product and new pre-game graphics will provide some more details for the matchup. These were all welcome additions noticed during our time with the game.
You can read the latest Campus Huddle here for more details. There will be a lot more information coming soon with the Dynasty Deep Dive hitting tomorrow, which can be viewed here. College Football 26 will launch on July 10 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can pre-order the game now with the option of the Deluxe Edition and the MVP Bundle that includes Madden NFL 26.
