Rey Dau either appears naturally in the game's story or in the Windward Plains when lightning storms take place in the biome. The inclement weather is a new feature of Monster Hunter Wilds, causing different locations to have shifting weather patterns over time. Rey Dau comes out to hunt various prey when storms are heavy, casting darkness across the Plains along with occasional strikes of lightning.

You can check the weather status of a region by going to the "Forecast" section of the "Environment Overview" menu associated with your map.

Thankfully, you don't always have to wait for the right weather to face a Rey Dau. Once you beat this creature once in the story, you can challenge it again at any time by scheduling a hunt with Alma?????. This will automatically change the weather of the Plains to resemble when Rey Dau spawns on the biome's map.

Rey Dau is a Winged Wyvern capable of inflicting Thunder damage to you and your allies, so one step you can take to beat it is to wear gear that gives you Thunder Resistance skills??????. Some armor or equipment will allow you to reduce the elemental damage from Rey Dau's attacks, giving you more chances to survive during a fight.

A Rey Dau has three separate weak points you should target to deal extra damage, including its:

• Horns (Breakable)
• Wings
• Tail (Breakable)

Slicing off a monster's tail gives you another area of the creature to carve, giving you extra materials for unique gear if you manage to sever that part by doing multiple slashing attacks on it.

When fighting a Rey Dau, this monster in Monster Hunter Wilds will use its wings like swords, slashing at your character to deal damage. Rey Dau gathers lightning in its horns and wings to unleash powerful attacks supercharged with Thunder damage. Supercharge Railcannon	Rey Dau closes its horns before the spines on its neck begin to glow. After a short time, the Rey Dau will fire a large beam of lightning that causes a large AoE explosion of Thunder damage.	Watch for when Rey Dau plants its wings into the ground to charge this attack. Then, move as far to the right or left from the monster's head as you can to get away from the AoE.

Rey Dau's largest attacks leave it vulnerable to be countered by your weapon's strikes. For example, after doing a Supercharge Railcannon, Rey Dau takes a long time to recover as the vents in its neck exhaust steam from the channeled lightning.

Your attacks against Rey Dau could cause it to gain an injury through an Open Wound. You can deal extra damage to a monster by identifying its Open Wound through Focus Mode, then targeting those weak points with unique Focus Strike attacks with your weapon. Enough damage to an Open Wound will destroy it, causing some monsters to get staggered.

Many of Rey Dau's attacks can also be performed while the creature is flying in the air. This can be frustrating, as many attacks with melee weapons can't reach a flying Rey Dau at times. However, you can use a Flashpod in your Slinger or activate environmental traps to knock Rey Dau out of the sky, staggering it and giving you the perfect chance to deal some incredible damage.

Track The Monster Back To Its Lair

When you injure Rey Dau enough, it will retreat back to its resting place by flying away from the fight. You have to track down the Rey Dau back to its nest using Scoutflies or by following the location of the monster on your map. When you confront Rey Dau for the last time, the creature's attacks are buffed to have more properties than before.

For starters, Rey Dau's attacks now cause a delayed explosion of Thunder damage wherever they hit. For example, the Winged Slash attack now causes the ground underneath where a wing struck to glow with lightning. This space then explodes into a burst of electricity, punishing players who make the mistake in Monster Hunter Wilds to keep aggressively attacking Rey Dau as they recover from using a move.

Like all hunts, you have a limited time to defeat Rey Dau, so try to implement every strategy at your disposal to end the hunt fast. Once you kill a Rey Dau during a quest, you'll have around 30 seconds to carve whatever parts are left of the creature for your main rewards.
