Secret societies control all aspects of college in The Sims 2. Members aren’t incredibly hidden, as all wear their llama logo in public. However, just because they can be seen doesn’t mean you can be invited. Instead, you must befriend several recruiters and then undergo an initiation ceremony. But, afterwards, there are plenty of rewards that can assist with graduating and even beyond into a future career.

Since colleges are part of TS2: University, all aspects are fairly disconnected from the main neighborhood hubs. Joining a secret society is mostly suited to single young adults who are only recently out of high school, like some of the returning Sims from TS1. If your storyline is currently focused on parenting or children, then there is probably not enough time for higher education. Likewise, playing as mainly older Sims will have little time to actually enjoy the benefits of being in a secret society.

How To Befriend Existing Society Recruiters

A Best Of Three

Each of the three universities has a unique secret society behind the scenes. At a minimum, your Sim should be a student at the target campus in TS2. You then need to hunt down at least three existing members and become friends with them. If it is taking too long to become friends, consider using relationship cheats in Sims 2. Society recruiters wear a black blazer with a llama icon near the upper left lapel when out on public lots. However, when met in private, they might also wear normal clothes, making it possible a friend of a friend is already a member.

Once a Sim has befriended enough recruiters, head back to your dorm or other college housing in TS2. At 23:00, a police NPC will arrive dressed in the same secret society uniform. They will arrest the initiated Sim and escort them to the hidden headquarters lot, though this can get buggy in the re-release. You can freely return to this location by using a phone and selecting Transportation.

Once on a secret society lot, Buy and Build modes will be available in TS2. Each society has its own funds that are not deducted from your main Sim. However, working or earning money while at the headquarters will give your wages to the secret society. Most headquarters have dining areas and toilets, but they might lack beds or showers until they are added. However, all three of the societies also own many items exclusive to reaching the maximum level in a career or completing an aspiration, circumventing your Sim’s need to get them on their own.

Additionally, your Sim can now don the llama blazer at any dresser in The Sims 2. You can also greet other members of society with a unique handshake animation. The biggest new feature is the ability to hack a computer. This lets you improve your own grades, but the lower their logic skill, the more likely you are to get caught. If this happens, a police officer may arrive and fine the student a hefty amount of Simoleons.
