In The Sims 4: Enchanted By Nature there are eight new ailments. These work similarly to illnesses in that they are a condition applied to Sims for a short period of time which affects their appearance and behavior. They can be spread to others and can be cured or left to fade naturally after a few days.

Ailments have a range of unique symptoms and can sometimes be beneficial. Each one has unique symptoms and physical signs which Sims in the Naturopathy career will want to learn. We take a look at what each ailment does, how to identify it and how to craft the cure.

What Are Ailments?

There are eight ailments in total and each one has positive and negative effects as well as specific symptoms you can look for. The ailments last for around three days, unless cured.

How Can You Catch Ailments?

You can catch any ailment via the following methods:

• Being out of balance - This happens when a Sim is repeatedly in a bad or uncomfortable mood.
• From another infected Sim - Ailments are caught by being close to infected Sims and can come from being at work or using public bathrooms.
• By being cursed by a fairy Sim - A fairy Sim with the cure or apply ailment ability - from tier one of the manipulation tree - can infect an ailment of their choice on another Sim.

How Do You Cure Ailments?

Ailment cures can be crafted at an apothecary table using the apothecary skill, or purchased from the apothecary stall. You can also manifest a cure from Moondrop Springs in Everdew.

Sims can also pay to be cured by a Naturopath, or cure others if they choose to pursue this new career. Finally, fairies can learn an ability which can cure, or bestow, an ailment on other Sims.

All Ailment Symptoms And Cures

Below is a list of all eight ailments, the symptoms they have, the signs to look for and theusing the apothecary skill.

Simoleon Fever

A Sim with Simoleon Fever will cough up simoleons at random.

The Sim will gain a multicolored pattern on their body. It comprises dots and simoleon symbols in orange, blue, and green. It is easily visible on the arms, face and neck.

The Sim will also gain an uncomfortable 3 debuff for three days. When they cough up simoleons, they gain another 1 uncomfortable debuff for two hours but will make a couple of hundred simoleons for their discomfort.

Creation Impulse

Creation Impulse is an ailment which makes Sims unable to think of anything except creating items.

A Sim with this impulse will display a rash which appears as red, green, blue, and yellow paint splotches on their body. It is large and easy to see.

They will want to create items and seek creative tasks autonomously. They will have a 3 Dazed debuff for three days, but also gain a skill boost when crafting.

Burning Passion

Sims with the Burning Passion ailment are a danger to their love life, and surroundings, since they will become flirty but also flammable.

A Sim with this burning ache will have vibrant yellow, purple, and orange flame patterns right up their arms.

These passionate Sims will have a 3 uncomfortable debuff, but will frequently enter flirty moods. Whenever they have a flirty buff, they have a chance to set fire to any flammable items in the area.

Gnome Lure

If a Sim has the Gnome Lure ailment, they will, unsurprisingly, lure gnomes to their location. These gnomes will be alive briefly and can clean or water plants nearby. Mostly one will vanish before another appears, but they show up fairly frequently.

A Sim with the gnome lure ailment will find their skin turns bright red and has white spots on it, reminiscent of a toadstool.

These Sims are quite happy with their situation, getting a 3 happy buff for three days. The main issue here is the gnome visitors flooding your lot with random seed packets.

Sonic Sinuses

When a Sim with Sonic Sinuses sneezes things around them unexpectedly break.

The rash for this ailment is a smattering of red dots all over the upper body, face and head.

A Sim with this will break things, but they'll also gain a boost to their handiness skill when repairing items.

Luck Magnet

A Sim with Luck Magnet will gain good luck for the duration of the ailment.

This ailment is recognized by the green clovers which appear all over a Sim's upper body, face and head.

The Sim gains a 3 happy buff as well as the good luck buff.

Greenie Meanie

A Sim with Greenie Meanie will want to garden, and will build the gardening skill faster. Unfortunately, they won't enjoy it.

You can spot this ailment by the green splotches on a Sim's face, and the green vine patterns which run down their arms.

The downside here is the 3 anger debuff for the duration of the ailment.

Emotional Void

A Sim with the Emotional Void ailment will display fewer emotions.

The rash for this ailment is a rock-like grey pattern all over the skin. It looks as if the Sim has patches of rock growing on them.

A Sim with this ailment will gain a three-day 3 Fine buff and will also dampen the feelings of others around them. Both them and those close by will be less likely to enter second stage emotions such as very playful.
