NYT Connections Sports Edition today: Hints and answers for June 29, 2025
Jun 30, 2025 am 10:07 AMConnections: Sports Edition is the latest edition of the popular New York Times word game, specially crafted to challenge sports enthusiasts.
Just like the standard Connections game, this version asks players to uncover "common threads between words." Similar to Wordle, Connections refreshes daily, and each day’s puzzle becomes progressively harder—so we’ve provided some hints and strategies to help you get through tough puzzles.
If you're only interested in today's solution, feel free to scroll to the bottom for the answer. However, if you prefer to work it out yourself, continue reading for helpful clues and tactics.
What is Connections Sports Edition?
This new daily word game from the NYT was developed in collaboration with The Athletic, a subsidiary of the New York Times that covers sports. Connections can be accessed via web browsers or mobile apps, and the goal is to group four words that share a common theme.

Every puzzle contains 16 words divided into four groups. These groups could include themes like famous sayings, types of food, historical events, etc. Although some words may seem to fit multiple categories, there's only one correct grouping.
Correctly guessing all four words in a group removes them from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake—you’re allowed up to four errors before the game ends.

You can also shuffle and rearrange the board to make it easier to spot patterns. Each category is color-coded by difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest). Like Wordle, you can share your results on social media.
