NYT 'Connections' Hints And Answers For Sunday, June 29th

It's a beautiful weekend, although I'm slightly disappointed that it's already the final weekend of June. It’s my favorite month of the year, and now it's passed. Real summer is here and the 4th Of July is just ahead. I imagine we’ll get some sort of patriotic-themed Connections that day, though often when Connections has a “theme,” it's misleading. Anyway, we’ve got words to group. Let’s jump right in!
How To Play Connections
Connections is the second-most-played NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword, and an incredibly fun, free offering that will keep your brain active every day. Play it right here.
The aim is to take a set of 16 words and identify links between four groups of four. They could be specific categories of terms, or they might be small puzzles where words come before or after something you have to figure out. And it gets more complex from there.
There’s only one correct solution, and you’re limited in how many attempts you can make, so you can’t just guess randomly until you find the right combinations. The difficulty levels are color-coded—typically starting with yellow, then blue/green, and ending with purple as the hardest. Keep this in mind as you begin connecting the words.
You select four words you believe are related and either solve the group or get feedback if you're close. If you're nearly correct, the game tells you that you're just one off. You only get a few mistakes before losing, but if you want the answers without failing, come here or clear your browser cookies and try again. Want more puzzles? - ?Blue group – Cabbage Patch, Floss, Moonwalk, Robot
- ?Green group – Bolt, Jerk, Jump, Startle
- ?Purple group – Earthworm, Mud, Mushroom, Puddle
Today's Connections wasn’t too tough. The hardest part for me was figuring out the dance moves. At first, I thought EARTHWORM belonged there because of breakdancing's "worm" move. Eventually I swapped it for CABBAGE PATCH, which worked. I was pretty sure the purple words were all things found on the ground after rain, but I focused first on the green group. I solved them all in order—from yellow to blue to green and finally purple. I still think this puzzle would be more entertaining and slightly harder if it included a red herring word that didn’t belong. Just one word that doesn’t fit. But maybe that would be overkill.
