The first inanimal Mateo shows you is a small black cat made entirely out of wires and cables. You don’t need to search for this one, but it does help give you an idea of what to expect when looking for others.

You won't ever see full 3D models of the inanimals, just glimpses of parts of them. It would be difficult to create full models for characters that appear only once. Still, they’ll stand out when you come across them, especially since they'll only appear after they’re ready to be found.

Starting The Inanimal Search

To begin your search for the inanimals, you must speak to Mateo. During this conversation, he will explain that Davi vanished when several inanimals escaped, and he hasn’t been able to locate them. As part of the effort to find Davi, you also need to track down the other missing inanimals—there are four total.

After this talk, Mateo asks you to go to Phoenicia so she can post about the missing inanimals online to expand the search. She happily agrees. Come back the next day and tell Mateo that Phoenicia posted something, and he will be very appreciative. In fact, he already received a lead from Hoove. Where To Find Each Inanimal

Once you’ve spoken with Hoove and been directed toward him, he’ll mention that he believes he saw a snake-like inanimal recently in this room. From here, more leads like this will appear as you find each inanimal until you've located them all. Let’s begin the hunt.

Pythorn, The Serpentine Inanimal

Pythorn is the first inanimal you must locate. While speaking to Hoove isn’t required for Pythorn to appear, they won’t show up until you’ve been sent his way, so it’s best to chat with him anyway. You can find Pythorn sitting on the window above the laundry basket, appearing as a small green vine with spikes. Interact with it to collect it.

At this point, return to Mateo, who will be thrilled to have the first inanimal back.

Springtail, The Mouse Inanimal

Next up is Springtail, an inanimal resembling a mouse. After returning Pythorn, Mateo will suggest talking to Nelly, who claims to have spotted another inanimal. Speak with him, and he’ll confirm seeing the mouse tangled up in Connie’s wires.

Stitch, The Tassel Hound Inanimal

Things are moving forward well. Once Springtail is returned, Mateo gives you another tip he picked up. Stepford says he heard something about an inanimal, so make sure to visit him next.

Davi, The Dog Inanimal

Return to Mateo with Stitch in hand, and you’ll get a surprise. Having returned after all the other inanimals were found, Davi rushes in to reunite with Mateo. Overjoyed, Mateo welcomes the inanimal back—Davi looks more like a normal animal than the rest.

With this final reunion, your search for the inanimals comes to a close.

What Is The Reward For Finding All The Inanimals?

After all that work, what do you gain? A few things, actually. First, the next time you speak with Mateo, you’ll unlock his final collectible, which is always satisfying to complete. Second, you’ll earn the 'Inanimal Control' achievement/trophy, which is a nice bonus.

Interestingly, the 'Inanimal Control' achievement/trophy may trigger before you return Stitch to Mateo, possibly even when finding Stitch. The image for the trophy shows Stitch, although the description implies it should unlock upon finding Davi. That’s a bit odd!

Lastly, you can now finish Mateo’s storyline, and if you’ve shown care and affection towards him, you can easily reach a Love ending. You could also opt for friendship or rivalry, but considering how much effort went into helping him, choosing a Hate ending seems unlikely.
