While Rematch offers a variety of gameplay options, the heart of the experience lies in its 5v5 ranked mode. This is where you’ll find the most competitive and skilled players, offering the best possible matches. If you’ve spent time playing with more selfish or uncooperative players, you’ll surely appreciate the structured environment that ranked play provides.
This guide aims to break down everything you need to know about ranked mode. From the number of ranks available to how progression works, we’ve got you covered. We’ll also explain what’s known about the somewhat cryptic placement system.
Getting Started
To begin your ranked journey, you must first complete your placement matches. Based on your performance, you will be placed anywhere from Bronze 3 to Silver 1. It's important to note that your final placement isn’t solely based on whether you win or lose each match. Some players have reported losing three out of five games yet still being placed in Silver. Others have won most of their matches but remained in Bronze. Personally, I was placed in Bronze 2 despite my team winning only three out of five games. So, it’s clear that your individual performance plays a role in determining your starting rank.
How Many Leagues Are There?
There are six total leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Elite. Each league contains three divisions. For example, if you start at Bronze 3, you'll need to progress through Bronze 2 and then Bronze 1 before reaching Silver 3. Once you move up to a new league, you cannot be demoted back.
How Do You Rank Up?
As expected, victory in matches is key. Each win grants you 20 points. Your personal performance does not influence this gain—only the outcome of the match matters.
If you lose, you’ll lose between 16 and 18 points. Again, strong individual play doesn't reduce this penalty. You’ll need 100 points to advance from one division to the next, meaning it takes 300 points total to reach the next league.
How Promotion Matches Work
Once you've climbed to the top of your current rank and accumulated enough points to qualify for the next, you won’t automatically advance. Instead, you must complete a promotion series. This consists of a best-of-three set of matches. Win two of the three, and you’ll be promoted to the next rank. Should you fail, you’ll have to work your way back up again. Tough luck.
