ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1467 Hints, Clues And Answer For Wednesday, June 25thBy Erik KainIt’s Thor’s Day and that means I owe you the answer to Wordle Wednesday’s riddle. We’ll get to that before we tackle the Wordle itself. This was the riddle:
What has a spine but no bones?
The answer? A book! (Though not an eBook). Congratulations to those of you who sent me the correct answer!
Alright then. Time for Wordle.
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: Part of negotiations.

Wordle Analysis
Each day I use Wordle Bot to evaluate my guessing strategy. You can analyze your own Wordles using Wordle Bot by visiting this link.
This puzzle didn’t work out well for me. Starting with PLATE left me with 334 possible words and only a yellow ‘E’. Next, CHOIR—which introduced all new letters—narrowed it down to 20. At that point, I went with OWNER since many possibilities started with ‘O’, and clearly, I was heading in the right direction. But with just three guesses left, it felt like a gamble. I tried ORDER because choosing OFFER might have left ODDER as a potential word if it wasn’t correct. Unfortunately, the actual Wordle was OFFER.
Competitive Wordle Score
I’m not too upset about getting it on the fifth try since that means I matched the Bot today (and marks the second straight day where the Bot needed five attempts!). Both of us lose one point, bringing our June totals to:
Erik: 16 points
Wordle Bot: 9 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing correctly in 1 attempt earns 3 points; 2 attempts earn 2 points; 3 attempts earn 1 point; 4 attempts earn 0 points; 5 attempts result in -1 point; 6 attempts result in -2 points; and failing to solve results in -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent, you gain 1 point. If you tie, you earn 0 points. Losing costs you 1 point. Total these for your score. Maintain a daily total or play fresh each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, so all points (positive or negative) are doubled.
- Track scores over time or play anew every day. Most importantly, enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term "offer" originates from Latin offerre, meaning "to present, bring before," derived from ob- ("toward") ferre ("to carry, bear"). It entered English through Old French offrir during the 12th century.
