Len's Island may appear to be a relaxing crafting game with farming and exploration, but it can surprise you with challenging mechanics, particularly on higher difficulty settings. Proper resource management is essential to avoid running out when you need them most.
The game features a significant amount of combat and dungeon exploration, both of which require thorough preparation beforehand. By focusing on the right skills and upgrades, you can significantly improve your gameplay experience once you've mastered some fundamental strategies.
Prefer Wood-Building Over Other Materials
Wood is a much easier resource to gather quickly, especially since the world is filled with trees. Chopping them down yields around six to seven pieces each, making wood an efficient building material. It’s best to use wood for constructing structures rather than other materials. In the early stages of the game, wood becomes crucial.
As you explore mines, you’ll often be required to repair structures using wood to proceed further inside. Additionally, many blueprints you acquire at the beginning require wood, such as the Bed, Workbench, Campfire, and Baitbox.
Build Smaller Houses
The house you build initially isn’t meant to be your permanent base, so avoid spending too many resources on it. You only need two Wooden Foundation squares to have enough room for basic furniture.
Before heading into dangerous areas, consider building a tiny house with just one foundation block that contains a bed. This allows you to set your spawn point nearby, saving you from having to walk all the way back due to your slow starting movement speed.
Get The Farmer's Gear
Farming is a major source of income in Len's Island, and you can buy seeds from Steph in Bridgewater Town. Although seeds cost Gold, purchasing the Farmer's Gear reduces how many you need to buy.
These items are easy to overlook since they look like decorations, but you'll find them near the table in the shop. By acquiring both the Farmer's Hat and Farmer's Bandana, you increase your chance of getting extra seeds while harvesting.
Recycle Old Buildings
One helpful feature in the game is the ability to recycle any structure you build and get your resources back. If you're planning to upgrade your homes or switch to better materials, this lets you reclaim what you spent.
You'll also be placing structures in the mines to navigate through them and reach new areas. Once you're done exploring, make sure to dismantle and collect everything again, especially if you no longer plan to return.
Always Keep Some Blueberries
Exploring Len's Island isn't always peaceful—you must constantly manage hunger drain. Running out of food leads to starvation, which steadily reduces your HP until you eat again.
To prevent this, collect Blueberries whenever you spot them in the wild. They’re a free food source available before you start farming. While they don’t restore health, they fill your Hunger bar. You can gather a decent amount from each bush, allowing you to explore without interruption.
Clear Dungeons Quickly
Dungeons are packed with enemies, and completing them often requires defeating a certain number of foes near the end. The longer you take, the harder things become, as you'll eventually run low on supplies.
You don’t have to fight every enemy in a dungeon. Skip the stronger ones if you're not ready. We suggest focusing on defeating weaker enemies to level up faster and gain strength gradually.
Do Not Sell Extra Crafting Materials
Early in the game, there aren’t many ways to earn Gold, so you might be tempted to sell off extra materials you’ve gathered. However, we advise against doing so unless absolutely necessary.
You may find yourself unprepared when you actually need those materials, and it can be frustrating to gather them all over again. Imagine being in a tough situation but having sold off the very items that could have helped you survive.
Focus On Combat Skills First
The Skills menu offers various abilities that make gameplay smoother. If you want to stand a chance against tougher enemies, we recommend prioritizing combat skills.
You don’t need to invest in farming or crafting skills early on—while they make things slightly more convenient, your tools are still capable enough to handle basic tasks.
We also suggest upgrading your weapon at the anvil.
