ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1464 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, June 22ndBy Erik KainThe weekend has, unfortunately, drawn to a close. But Wordle pays no attention to weekends. Wordle continues endlessly. Wordle feels nothing. We solve it daily and will continue doing so until there are no more puzzles left. What the New York Times does after that is unclear. I personally hope for six-letter Wordles, but who can say? For now, all we can do is tackle today’s puzzle!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: In an odd way.
The Clue: This Wordle contains a repeated letter.
Be warned—spoilers ahead! The solution is coming up!

Wordle Analysis
I use Wordle Bot every day to improve my guessing strategy. You can analyze your own Wordles with Wordle Bot by visiting this link.
CRONE wasn’t a terrible starting word, though it left 144 possible answers which isn't ideal. PLAIT narrowed it down further to just 19. Although I was disappointed MOLDY wasn’t the correct answer, it did eliminate everything except ODDLY, which turned out to be the right one. Success at last!
Competitive Wordle Score
Today, both the Bot and I scored 0 points after tying in four guesses. That means our June scores remain:
Erik: 16 points
Wordle Bot: 10 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing correctly in 1 try gives 3 points; in 2 tries, 2 points; in 3 tries, 1 point; in 4 tries, 0 points; in 5 tries, -1 point; in 6 tries, -2 points; failing to guess results in -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent, you earn 1 point. A tie gives 0 points. Losing deducts 1 point. Total these to get your score. Track it daily or play fresh each day.
- On Fridays, points are doubled—both gains and losses count twice.
- Whether you track a running total or play anew each day, have fun!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
Oddly is formed from "odd" plus the adverbial suffix "-ly." Odd came into English during the mid-1500s from Old Norse oddi, meaning “point, angle,” evolving through meanings like “l(fā)eftover” and “single” to eventually mean “strange.” The suffix -ly comes from Old English -lic (from Proto-Germanic *-lika), commonly used to turn adjectives into adverbs.
