Jun 19, 2025 am 10:23 AMConnections is among the most popular word games from the New York Times, having gained widespread popularity. The game revolves around identifying the "common links among words." Much like Wordle, Connections refreshes at midnight, and each new set of words tends to be more challenging than the last—so we've gathered some hints and advice to help you push through.
If you're simply looking for today's answer, you can skip ahead to the end of this piece for the full solution to today’s Connections puzzle. However, if you prefer solving it on your own, continue reading for clues, suggestions, and tactics to guide you along the way.
What is Connections?
The NYT's newest daily word game has gone viral across social platforms. According to the Times, associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu played a key role in designing and launching the game within the publication's Games section. Connections is accessible via web browsers and mobile devices, and players must match four words that share a common theme.

Each puzzle presents 16 words, divided into four distinct groups. These groupings could relate to anything—movie titles, food items, historical events, and more. Although some words may appear to belong together, only one configuration is correct.
Correctly identifying all four words in a group removes them from the board. An incorrect guess counts as an error—you’re allowed up to four errors before the game concludes.

You also have the ability to rearrange and shuffle the words to make connections more visible. Furthermore, each category is assigned a color, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, then blue, and purple being the most difficult. Similar to Wordle, you can post your results on social media to challenge friends.
Here's a hint for today's Connections categories
Looking for a subtle clue about the categories without seeing them outright? Try these:
- Yellow: Gloomy weather
- Green: Precisely
- Blue: Parts of a group
- Purple: Anatomy terms
