Jun 17, 2025 pm 01:33 PMConnections is among the most widely played New York Times word games that has gripped the public's interest. The game revolves around identifying the "common threads between words." Much like Wordle, Connections refreshes at midnight, and each new set of words presents an even greater challenge—so we've put together some hints and tips to help you push through.
If you're only interested in today's puzzle answer, you can scroll to the end of this article for today's Connections solution. But if you prefer to solve it yourself, continue reading for helpful clues, hints, and strategies.
What is Connections?
The NYT's newest daily word game has taken social media by storm. The Times acknowledges associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for contributing to the development and introduction of this new word game to the publication’s Games section. Connections is playable on both desktop browsers and mobile devices, and players must group four words that share a common link.

Each puzzle contains 16 words, and these words are divided into four groups. These sets could include things like book titles, software names, country names, and more. While several combinations may seem plausible, there is always just one correct grouping.
Once a player selects all four correct words in a group, those words disappear from the board. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake—players can make up to four errors before the game ends.

Players also have the option to reshuffle and rearrange the board to make it easier to spot connections. Each category is color-coded: yellow is the easiest, followed by green, then blue, and purple being the hardest. Similar to Wordle, you can post your results on social media to share with friends.
Here's a hint for today's Connections categories
