Hi there! Here are the NYT Strands hints, spangram and answers for Sunday, June 15.
How To Play Strands
The New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a twist on the traditional word search. It can be accessed via the NYT website and within the NYT Games app along with games like Wordle and Connections (which we also cover in our daily guides at Forbes Gaming).
A new Strands puzzle becomes available every day. You'll face a six by eight letter grid. Your task is to uncover a set of related words, aided by a clue indicating the theme. When you locate a theme word, it will stay highlighted in blue.
In addition, you must find a special term called a spangram. This word describes the connection between all the theme words. The spangram spans at least two sides of the board, though it might not begin or end exactly at them. While the theme words won’t be proper nouns, the spangram may well be one. Upon finding it, it will remain highlighted in yellow.
Each letter is used only once across the theme words and the spangram. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, even changing directions mid-word if needed. If you're using a touchscreen, double tap the last letter to submit your guess.
If you discover three non-theme words of at least four letters each, you’ll gain access to the Hint button. Clicking it will highlight letters that form one of the theme words.
Be careful: puzzles can get tricky. Some days you may need to complete missing parts of phrases, while other times they may involve synonyms or homophones. The difficulty fluctuates, and the puzzle creators often try to catch you off guard.

The theme words for today’s Strands game are...
- CRAWDAD
- PAPARAZZI
- CHALUPA
- FATHER'S DAY
- POPSICLE
- POPCORN
Here’s the completed grid layout…
Noticing the double "z" stood out early, but I couldn't immediately place it. Remembering what today marks helped me find the spangram. A hint led me to CRAWDAD, which clarified the pattern — each theme word includes a synonym for “father.” In this case, it was “dad.”
PAPARAZZI (papa) and CHALUPA (pa) filled the upper half of the grid, while POPSICLE and POPCORN (both containing “pop”) covered the lower half.
I used one hint and found the spangram as my first theme word.
