ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1457 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, June 15thBy Erik KainFather’s Day has passed, and the next major holiday is July 4th—Independence Day. The day when Earth’s united forces banded together to repel an alien invasion! Or at least I think that’s what we’re celebrating. Either way, we’ve got a few weeks of Wordles ahead before we get there. Let’s tackle today’s puzzle now.
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: Of little importance in a negative sense.
The Clue: This Wordle contains a repeated letter.

Wordle Analysis
Each day I use Wordle Bot to help evaluate my performance. You can test your own guesses with Wordle Bot using this link.
CRATE gave me one yellow square and one green square, leaving fifteen possible words. I struggled to come up with a solid second guess and eventually went with NEEDY even though I wasn’t thrilled about the double ‘E.’ It turned out… not great, but manageable. Still, I ended up with three green letters, and the first word that came to mind was PETTY. I tried it and hit gold. PETTY was the winner!
Competitive Wordle Score
I earn 1 point for solving in three and another point for beating the Bot. The Bot scores 0 points for solving in four and -1 for losing to me. Our updated totals:
Erik: 13 points
Wordle Bot: 7 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 earns 3 points; guessing in 2 earns 2 points; guessing in 3 earns 1 point; guessing in 4 earns 0 points; guessing in 5 deducts 1 point; guessing in 6 deducts 2 points; and failing to solve deducts 3 points.
- If you beat your opponent, you gain 1 point. A tie gives 0 points. Losing costs you 1 point. Total these to determine your score. Track daily or play fresh each day.
- Fridays offer double points (2XP), so gains or losses are doubled.
- Keep a running count or treat each day independently. Most importantly, have fun!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term petty originates from Middle English pety, borrowed from Old French petit, meaning "small" or "little." It ultimately comes from Vulgar Latin pitittus, also meaning “small.” Initially used to describe something minor or unimportant, petty later developed more negative meanings such as “trivial” or “narrow-minded.”
