Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds are Fanged Beasts that you encounter quite early in the game, and they serve as the smaller counterparts to the Alpha Doshaguma, despite being capable of delivering significant damage.
Engaging in the hunt of Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds is worthwhile, particularly during the initial stages when you need to refine your skills and perhaps familiarize yourself with a new weapon. While they aren’t easy opponents, it’s advisable to practice on them rather than facing larger threats prematurely.

Strategies for defeating Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds
Here are some practical strategies for defeating Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Special Moves: Weak Roar, Minor Tremor.
- Employ Fire elemental attacks – Doshaguma are vulnerable to fire-based elemental attacks, so utilizing weapons of this type will prove beneficial.
- Utilize Thunder elemental attacks – They’re also susceptible to thunder-based elemental attacks, so equipping a secondary or primary weapon with this attribute is prudent.
- Apply Flaming Ammo – If your weapon supports it, using Flaming Ammo will cause damage to Doshaguma.
- Apply Thunder Ammo – Similarly, if your weapon is compatible, consider using Thunder Ammo.
- Stock up on Torch Pods – As a fire-based item for your Slinger, Torch Pods will assist in chipping away at the target.
- Stock up on Thunder Pods – As a thunder-based item for your Slinger, Thunder Pods will similarly help reduce Doshaguma's health.
- All status effects work on Doshaguma – All status effects are equally potent on this monster, so feel free to use whichever you prefer, though we found Sleep and Paralysis particularly effective.
- Flash Pods, Shock Traps, and Pitfall Traps are effective – We discovered using Flash Pods helpful for disorienting the monster, providing time to maneuver and set up a trap.
- Harness the environment – Utilizing features like loose boulders and natural vine traps will aid in bringing down Doshaguma.
- Ensure adequate Health Potions – These creatures are surprisingly quick, and their front claws can be damaging. Keeping plenty of Health Potions in your inventory will prolong your engagement.
- Prepare a meal – If you're struggling, take a break when safe to do so and prepare a meal (if feasible). This will provide your Hunter with a much-needed boost to continue the fight.
- Lure to other monsters – Luring Doshaguma into the path of another monster increases the likelihood of them engaging in combat. However, be cautious, as leading it to another of its kind could result in both turning against you.
- Use Large Dung Pods or Dung Pods – Doshaguma, as mentioned earlier, can gang up against you. In such cases, use Dung Pods or Large Dung Pods in your Slinger to separate them. Ensure you're targeting the other Doshaguma, not the one you're focusing on.
Monster Hunter Wilds Doshaguma Weak Points
Doshaguma's weak point is its belly. Its Tail Hair and two Forelegs are breakable as well.
Doshaguma's belly is its weakest point, but it’s the hardest to target safely because you can only effectively access it when the beast is on its hind legs preparing for an attack. That said, you can attempt to strike it from the sides, though it won’t be as impactful as hitting it head-on. (This is where we found a Bow advantageous, as you don’t have to get too close.)
We strongly suggest attempting to break both its Forelegs as soon as possible. Doing so will significantly harm the monster, slow its attacks, and even decrease its running speed.
We also observed that, although less effective than the weak spots we’ve listed, attacking the face of Doshaguma still inflicted substantial damage.
Monster Hunter Wilds Doshaguma Attacks
Doshaguma will rear up on its hind legs (exposing its weak spot) and then slam down with its claws in the ground, dragging its claws back toward itself. If you’re caught in its claws, it will hurt. You have a few seconds to attack the weak spot belly before the Doshaguma slams down, so we only recommend getting a few hits in if it’s safe before retreating again to avoid getting hit.
It can also opt to swipe down with just one claw while standing on its hind legs, so be cautious when attacking the belly (if you decide to do so).
Doshaguma will have a variation of the aforementioned attacks, but instead of slamming its claw into the ground, it will first slam it and then drag it toward you.
The beast will also lift one of its Forelegs and swipe its claws at you while on all fours. You can easily evade this attack by dodging out of the way when you see one of the Forelegs rising into the air.
Doshaguma will also open its jaws and attempt to lunge at you, biting you if you’re too close. If you notice the monster focusing on you and moving closer on all fours, there’s a good chance this attack is imminent.

In our hunts so far, we’ve noticed that Doshaguma move between are 15, 10, 6, and 7 in the Forest.
Should you capture or kill Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Deciding whether to capture or kill Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds is entirely up to you, depending on your immediate needs.
