To keep things fresh, Crystal of Atlant offers several different game modes, each providing a unique challenge. Given that the game is an MMO, many modes support multiplayer play, which can alter your approach to Crystal of Atlant.
Overall, the MMO experience can be quite enjoyable. However, due to the busy screen during gameplay, some modes may not be adequately explained, leading to potential oversight. By following this guide, you can understand how all the game modes in Crystal of Atlant function.
All Game Modes, Explained
Crystal of Atlant includes around four modes in total, each designed for a specific purpose. Here’s a summary of the game modes you can expect:
- Adventure Mode: This serves as the main storyline mode for the game. You’ll spend most of your time here.
- Co-Op Battle: Players can explore dungeons designed for multiple participants.
- Ranked Match: These matches form the primary PvP aspect of Crystal of Atlant. The aim is to battle other players and climb the ranking system.
- Challenge Modes: Each Challenge Mode alters the gameplay in some way, encouraging experimentation.
Adventure Mode
As stated earlier, this is Crystal of Atlant's primary mode. To unlock other modes, you need to progress in the game, meaning consistent playthrough of the story mode is essential. Each chapter of the Adventure Mode is divided into zones, listed as follows:
- Valley Ruins
- Under District
- Wonderland
- Colossal Woods
- Chrome Military Factory
- Abyssal Purgatory
Additionally, all zones include three difficulty levels:
- Story Mode: This introduces you to the combat basics and game mechanics.
- Elite Levels: Between Story Mode levels, there are one or two Elite Levels featuring tougher enemies. Completing these yields valuable resources for better gear.
- Abyss Levels: To access these, you must first finish a zone. For instance, after completing the Under District, you unlock that zone's Abyss Level, which contains a formidable boss.
Ranked Matches
You cannot access this until Level 32, which makes sense since Ranked Matches play quite differently from the standard game. You’ll face off against other players, either solo or in teams of three.
Before jumping into a match, there are a few rules to keep in mind. First, the Ranked section has its own set of gear, found in the PVP tab in your inventory.
Initially, you’ll receive the default armor set. To obtain better gear, visit the Shop and spend Battle Points, earned by winning matches, so frequent Ranked play is necessary to accumulate enough points.
Rank Levels Like other ranked games, Crystal of Atlant uses the same ranking system. You start at Bronze III and advance upward. Winning matches grants Battle Points for purchasing gear and Victory Points for rank progression.
Below is a list of the ranks in the game:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Master
- Legend
Co-op Battle
These modes require multiple players due to their challenging nature. Currently, there’s only one mode called HexChess; you can have up to eight teammates, but the more players involved, the stronger the enemies become.
In this mode, you fight on a chessboard against chess-like pieces, splitting into teams to defeat Guards; once your team defeats their Guard, you can assist another team. Afterward, tougher and different bosses appear in subsequent stages, each with distinct attack patterns.
Challenge Mode
The challenges take what you’ve learned in the game and add a twist to test your skills further; thus, these modes introduce new elements to the existing gameplay. One advantage of many Challenge Modes is that they allow teaming up with other players, potentially enhancing the experience.
Golden Fleece Challenge
These are daily challenges; on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, defeat an Abyssal level boss within 90 seconds, and on Tuesday and Thursday, collect 3 keys guarding chests. On weekends, eliminate as many enemies as possible within 100 seconds.
Dual Bonds
You engage in one-on-one battles with NPCs from the story mode. However, you cannot use positions, pets, or revive potions.
Arena
This mode consists of four stages: Qualifiers, Elimination Round, Promotion Round, and Final Round. At present, only Qualifiers are available; to progress, you must complete four rounds and defeat the boss.
Void Realm
This also has four stages. With the addition of the optional and main boss on each stage, there is a side quest offering a buff, making the process easier since Void Realm can be challenging.
Tempered Trials
These act as the Horde mode. As you defeat one wave of enemies, another larger wave spawns. A Moral Timer feature is included; if you fail to clear the wave before the timer expires, your morale drops, and at zero morale, the trials end.
When exiting the trials, you earn a reward based on your performance.
Critical Conquest
You’ll encounter Elite and Abyssal variants of bosses you’ve previously unlocked in the story mode.
Training Ground
Here you can practice your build, learn your character's abilities, and familiarize yourself with the fast-paced combat of Crystal of Atlant at your leisure. Additionally, completing the Combat Tutorials for your character earns you gold.
