Wordle Analysis
Each day I review my Wordle guesses using Wordle Bot to improve my strategy. You can analyze your own Wordles with Wordle Bot here.
Though not as tough as yesterday’s Wordle, this one was still rather tricky. I started with CHAIR, leaving me with just one yellow square and 285 possible words. SLOPE reduced that to 41, but DEIGN narrowed it down to just two. Thankfully, EDIFY did the trick!
Competitive Wordle Score
I assumed the Wordle Bot would need four guesses, but it managed to solve it in three. That gives me -1 for losing to the Bot, which becomes -2 due to 2XP Friday. The Bot earns 1 point for its victory and another for beating me, resulting in 4 points for 2XP Friday. The gap between our scores has widened significantly this month, with June totals now at:
Erik: 0 points
Wordle Bot: 6 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you defeat your opponent, you earn 1 point. A tie results in 0 points, while a loss gives you -1 point. Tally these to track your progress. Alternatively, play for a fresh score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning your points—positive or negative—are doubled.
- Maintain a running total or enjoy daily challenges. Have fun!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term edify originates from Latin aedificāre “to build” (composed of aedes “building” or “temple” facere “to make”). By Late Latin, it evolved into edificāre; Old French adopted it as edifier, and it entered Middle English as edify with the meaning “to teach” or “build up (morally or spiritually).”
